Alicia Vikander disappointed by lack of women in Lara Croft reboot

She takes over from Angelina Jolie as the fierce and feisty action hero Lara Croft in the reboot of Tomb Raider. But while she plays a strong female protagonist in the flick, Alicia Vikander admitted she was disappointed by the lack of women in the film as a whole on Monday. However, the Swedish actress added the film was a move in the right direction with such a strong female lead - amid endless accusations of inequality in the industry. She said of the iconic Lara Croft role: 'To have females characters in these kinds of films is definitely a big change.' Alicia is following in the footsteps of Angelina Jolie by portraying Lara in the reboot of the hugely successful movie series, set for release on March 16.
