Ex-Southlander Martin Mason is one of the oldest on the six-day Southland-Otago Axemen's Association Christmas Circuit, which ends at Tuatapere on Wednesday. Mason made a comeback to wood chopping after a 12-month break, at Gore on Saturday. Wood chopping and sawing was a heritage sport and would survive well into the future, he said.
