The Africa CDC, in its latest update, said that the number of confirmed Covid-19 positive cases rose from 176,807 on Saturday afternoon to 183,474 by Sunday afternoon. The death toll from the pandemic also rose from 4,902 Saturday afternoon to 5,041 as of Sunday afternoon, according to the Africa CDC. The continental disease control and prevention agency, which noted that the virus has so far spread into 54 African countries, also said that some 81,367 people who have been infected with Covid-19 have recovered across the continent so far. Africa CDC also disclosed northern Africa is the most affected area across the continent both in terms of positive Covid-19 cases, as well as the number of deaths.
