Rith BasuA truck moves down National Highway 6 at around 40kmph through the extreme right lane, forcing the hatchback that is travelling faster to overtake it illegally from the left. Around 100m ahead of the Dhulagarh toll gate, parked cars occupied two of the three lanes of the Kharagpur-bound flank. People living on either side of the highway walk or sprint across the road in violation of rules. The accident and the circumstances leading to it are still being probed.... Patrolling and prosecutions go on continuously. The district police, he said, have sent proposals to the National Highway Authority of India to construct foot overbridges and underpasses at various spots on the stretch.
