more-inThe Tamil Nadu Cooperative Milk Producers Federation, popularly called as Aavin, will introduce 225 ml milk packets priced at ₹10 each, Dairy Development Minister K.T.Rajenthra Bhalaji told the State Assembly on Tuesday. Standardised milk with 4.5 % fat and 8.5 % solids non-fat will be sold in the 225 ml packs. Milk procurementAavin currently procures just over 30 lakh litres of milk a day, of which 12.10 lakh litres are being sold in Chennai and 10 lakh litres in the other districts. “We are converting around 8 lakh litres of milk into butter and milk powder. Mr. Rajenthra Bhalaji also announced that around 5,400 retired employees of Aavin would each be supplied half a litre of milk daily free of cost.
