The 30-year-old victim was identified as Abdul Hamid, a seasonal fruit trader from Mymensingh. The driver lost control of the watermelon-laden pickup van, when it came near the Porabari area in Gazipur. The van went off the road and its front part was twisted after slamming a standing car, said SI Binoy Kumar Sarker of Naojorh Highway Police Outpost. Later, after recovering the body from the spot, police took it to the Shaheed Tajuddin Ahmad Medical College Hospital for autopsy. Police seized the pickup van but failed to arrest the driver as he fled from the spot after the accident.
