18 crew members of a sand transportation vessel rescued after it sank


BATU PAHAT: Eighteen crew members of a sand transportation vessel were rescued after the vessel sank about seven nautical miles off the waters of Parit Jawa, Muar, on Sunday evening. "During the incident, the vessel JBB Yu Hang 258 was on its way from Muar to Singapore with 18 crew members on board. However, all the crew members, comprising one local, one Indonesian and 16 Chinese nationals, managed to escape and were rescued by several vessels that was in the area. "None of the crew members were reported to be injured in the incident," said Jeffry when met at his office here. "We have also positioned two tug boats at the location to prevent the vessel from drifting into international shipping lane."
