14-party: Returning officers were not called to PMO

One of those alleged that returning officers have been briefed at the Prime Minister’s Office to play a role on behalf of the ruling party in the upcoming general elections. The letter said that on October 13, following the announcement of the election schedule, returning officers were called to the capital by the Election Commission for a briefing. BNP said calling returning officers to the Prime Minister’s Office was a clear violation of the Representation of the People Order and a punishable offence. It asked the Election Commission to take legal action against those involved in the act. Later that day the Election Commission announced that it will be sending a letter to all concerned divisions of the government instructing them not to call returning officers for any meeting.
