‘Queenie’ to bring rain over PH’s eastern section


Typhoon “Queenie” (international name: Kong-Rey) will bring light to moderate rain over the eastern section of the country, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said on Thursday. In its 11 a.m. severe weather bulletin, Pagasa said “Queenie” is packing maximum sustained winds of 140 kilometers per hour (kph) and gustiness of up to 170 kph. ADVERTISEMENTAs of 10 a.m., the typhoon was spotted 665 kilometers east northeast of Basco, Batanes and is moving at a speed of 15 kph, the weather bureau said. Due to the effects of the typhoon, Pagasa warned sea travelers of rough to very rough sea condition, adding that sea travel over the northern and western seaboards of Northern Luzon, and eastern seaboards of Luzon will be risky. Pagasa said “Queenie” is expected to leave the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) by Friday morning.
