Home Economics college students have announced to block the New Market intersection again on Tuesday demanding their college to be upgraded as a full-fledged institute under the Dhaka University. Sabrina Sultana, a student of the college, told Dhaka Tribune that they would stage a blockade again at the intersection from around 10am Tuesday. Students of the college have boycotted classes and exams since Saturday and vowed not to return to classes until their demands are met. They had demonstrated on October 4 last year to press for the same demand, which the authorities later assured to consider. Their demands also include transport facility, quality education, solution to accommodation problem, appointing adequate skilled teachers and arranging sufficient classrooms.
