‘Militant group’ in IoK pledges allegiance to IS

In a video recently shared by a pro-IS media centre Al-Qaraar, a Kashmiri militant group pledged its allegiance to the Islamic State (IS) group, reports the BBC. In the video, a masked man, identified as Abu al-Bara al-Kashmiri, can be seen delivering a speech inviting fellow fighters in the valley to pledge allegiance to the Islamic State and join its ‘caliphate’. He specifically invited a recently formed al-Qaeda linked militant group, Zakir Musa-led Ansar Ghazwat-ul-Hind to swear allegiance to the IS leader Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi. Abu al-Bara termed another separatist group, Hizb Lashkar Jaish Tehreek as ‘fake group’ while condemning India’s atrocities rule in Kashmir. Later the group, fighting in Iraq and Syria, expressed its interest in launching its chapter in Kashmir.
