The Philippine economy has a good chance of recovering from the impact of the coronavirus pandemic within the year if the right policies are put in place, a cabinet official said on Tuesday. National Economic and Development Authority (NEDA) Acting Secretary Karl Chua said “there’s a good chance” the Philippines would have a V-shaped recovery. “I have heard people saying that it could be V-shaped [recovery], so, we have a slump now, then recover by June, July or August. Chua said the government’s infrastructure program would play a key role in the country’s recovery. We stand a good chance of completing a lot of the flagship programs and we will pursue them in the next two and half years,” he added.
