A municipal foursome of ex-mayors have joined forces in a rare move to back the city’s quest for independence from the province, the Star has learned. On Monday, he said the former mayors all felt it was important to do something about the move by Doug Ford. The Supreme Court first has to decide whether to grant the mayors intervenor status before they can participate in the case and make legal arguments. The mayors want to make clear that the larger ward sizes imposed on Toronto by the province do not serve local residents or their representatives well. “I was outraged when I learned about this at the time,” said Hall, who was mayor from 1995 to 1997.
