The front page of the pro-Scottish independence newspaper The National featured Italian coach Mancini photoshopped as Wallace in the 1995 epic Braveheart. And Wales fans have joined in the fun, taking to social media to post pictures of the Italian flag with the Welsh dragon in its centre. Video was about to be king on the web YouTube was launched in February 2005 by Steve Chen, Chad Hurley, and Jawed Karim. Google Videos was actually a thing, too, but not a real ongoing concern as far as video destinations on the web went at the time. This enabled the extension of national inoculation drive to 12 more districts apart from Colombo, and the administration of Sinopharm vaccine’s second dose. Sri Lanka has received a total of 5.1 million Sinopharm vaccines so far since the arrival of the first batch of 600,000 doses in late March this year. Steve Gooding, director at the motoring research group, said the increasing size of cars means most domestic garages are no longer fit for purpose, having found that the average garage door width is just 2.1m. However, it's not all bad new for motorists who can't fit their motors into their garages at home. Drivers parking a motor in a locked garage overnight on average pay £673.50 for annual cover. 'Among other things, drivers pranging their cars when parking in their own garages have put paid to that guaranteed discount.' The RAC Foundation's report comes just weeks after a poll of motorists found that fifty-three per cent with garages at their properties never park their cars in them.

The Asian Development Bank (ADB) has approved a loan of $150 million for Sri Lanka to purchase COVID-19 vaccines and to improve vaccination information, delivery, and monitoring systems. The project is part of ADB’s USD 9 billion Asia Pacific Vaccine Access Facility (APVAX) launched last December to offer rapid and equitable vaccine-related support to its developing member countries. The Philippines-based regional bank said the loan will help finance the purchase of safe and effective COVID-19 vaccines to immunize about 4 million Sri Lankans, contributing to the government’s target to reach 80% vaccine coverage by 2023. ADB President Masatsugu Asakawa said: “The COVID-19 pandemic has tremendously affected Sri Lanka’s economy, which is highly dependent on the services sector and tourism. ADB’s support will help protect millions of Sri Lankans from COVID-19 and strengthen the government’s response and vaccination program.

In total, 24.6m people had received their first AstraZeneca vaccine by June 30, the latest week for which data is available, and 21.5m had been fully vaccinated. Officials are administering 800,000 second doses of the British vaccine each week, which could see the remaining AstraZeneca patients protected by the end of this month. It comes after the Department of Health said that another 96,000 first and 175,000 second doses were dished out on Thursday. Even after one dose, vaccine effectiveness against symptomatic disease was around 60 per cent and did not fall substantially with age. This rises from 4 per cent after a first dose, showing the importance of a second dose.

You can define the end of the world in a few different ways—the end of human civilization, the end of all life, or the destruction of the entire hunk of rock—but no matter how you slice it, it’s all coming undone eventually. But unlike those more apocryphal predictions, mainstream science is pretty certain of a few events that can—or will—cause the end of our world. Whether it’s microbes, machines, or missiles from space, here are ten ways scientists predict the world will end. Overall, the nearest and most likely end of the world is a slow, subtle, multi-pronged attack by… us.
