Ukraine's leader warns war will cost Russia for generations
Putin held a huge stadium rally and lavished praise on Russian forces. Zelenskyy used it to warn what was at stake. Konashenkov said Russian forces also used the anti-ship Bastion missile system to strike Ukrainian military facilities near the Black Sea port of Odesa. She also announced plans to deliver humanitarian aid to the city of Kherson, which is currently under control of the Russian forces. Since the war started, many people have used the Ukrainian flag and its colors to show solidarity with the country.

Putin Looks Ready to Start a War. Will He?
On the one hand, the first Western sanctions need to be firm enough to show Putin that they’re serious—but not so firm that Putin thinks he has nothing to lose by moving ahead. In other words, there needs to be a credible threat of further, much more serious sanctions to discourage Putin from escalating. On Tuesday afternoon, Biden announced the first phase of sanctions and said more would come if Putin took further offensive actions. Putin may be expecting Xi to bail him out if the Western sanctions start hurting. Besides being five times the size with 10 times the population, Ukraine would give Putin’s army no such safe harbor.

Olympics Live: Finland beats Russia 2-1 for hockey gold
___Cross-country skier Therese Johaug of Norway won the women’s 30-kilometer mass start, her third gold at the Beijing Olympics. She crossed the finish line 1 minute and 43.3 seconds behind Johaug to win silver. Finland’s Kerttu Niskanen won bronze 2 minutes and 33.3 second back. The top-ranked Austrians won gold in the Winter Games’ second iteration of the mixed team parallel event, holding off Germany in the final. Austra took silver in the event’s debut at Pyeongchang four years ago.
