GSTAAD – Dominic Thiem on Friday reached his first ATP Tour semi-final since May 2021 with a straight-sets victory over Peru’s Juan Pablo Varillas in Gstaad. Thiem missed the second half of last year due to a wrist injury and lost his first six Tour matches this season. “When I travelled to Bastad last week I didn’t expect to reach the quarter-finals there and then the semi-finals here. Then I played two good points and it was 3/5 and I thought ‘Let’s try’,” he said. French Open losing finalist Casper Ruud plays Jaume Munar and Albert Ramos-Vinolas takes on Chile’s Nicolas Jarry in Friday’s other quarter-finals.

Rejecting the objections of the PTI leader, the deputy speaker said he was performing his duties as per the orders of the Supreme Court. Mazari stressed that the law was “clear” and stated that the directives must be issued by the party leader. PML-Q leader Moonis Elahi later told the media that party president Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain has refused to back the PTI candidate — his cousin Pervez Elahi — for the slot of Punjab chief minister. PML-Q leader Chaudhry Hussain Elahi said in a tweet that all ten provincial assembly lawmakers decided in the parliamentary meeting that Pervez Elahi will be the party’s candidate for Punjab chief minister. “So it is PML-Q parliamentary party in Punjab Assembly which directs its members & not Ch Shujaat,” he wrote on his official Twitter handle.

250 which is making the life of the Pakistani public harder. The state of the public is prejudiced and people, in our country, are going through the harshest circumstances of their lives. Yes, it is rightly said that sometimes, it is better to wait and hope for the best and that is what the public of Pakistan is doing. It is high time now the political party that is in power should think not to discomfort the public but try to solve crises within them. No one should be allowed to betray the public.

Rasheed said due to high dollar rate, the imports have also become costlier, making it difficult to run industries. Tight end Brock Bowers, offensive tackle Warren McClendon, defensive tackle Jalen Carter, outside linebacker Nolan Smith and cornerback Kelee Ringo were First Team Preseason All-SEC selections for the Bulldogs. The votes have been counted and the result are in for the 2022 Preseason All-SEC teams. And the Georgia Bulldogs are once again well-represented on both the first and second teams. Bowers set school records for Georgia last season, emerging as perhaps the best tight end in the country. Carter might be the best defensive lineman in the country, while Ringo is poised for an even bigger season following his game-sealing Pick-6 against Alabama to end the 2022 season.

Here’s a quick look at their stats, ranked by points, from last season, along with Puljujarvi and Kailer Yamamoto. I don’t see how an arbitrator could award Puljujarvi as much as Strome, but Lehto could argue Puljujarvi deserves as much as Kapanen. PULJUJARVI TRADE…Once Puljujarvi has a contract it will be easier to facilitate a trade. Kane’s on-ice confidence and persona is something the Oilers lacked and will need more of in the future. It is an element that goes beyond goals, points and analytics.

Unfortunately, most of the geopolitical challenges Pakistan is facing today are not of its own making. Whereas, since the beginning, Pakistan has continuously faced an existential threat from India forcing Pakistan to spend on its security impacting national resources and making sometimes unnatural alliances. There are innumerable implications of these propaganda campaigns, which not only make a fuss of Pakistan’s image but also stimulate further challenges for Pakistan. Once, Pakistan was one of the favorite tourist destinations, yet during the last two decades, Pakistan has been projected as one of the most dangerous and insecure places to visit. Even though Pakistan remains in a geopolitical cauldron, it has been still able to carefully manage interstate relations within the region.

ISLAMABAD – Pakistan will have to engage the Taliban government in Kabul directly to neutralise the banned Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) as the group continues to pose threats to Pakistan’s internal security and western borders. Talking with the outlawed group will not favour the Taliban regime either as it will not help to boost their image as a peace builder; rather, their regime will continue to be considered supportive of the terrorists and manipulators. In the first research paper, Director PIPS Muhammad Amir Rana assessed the impact of the peace talks between the Pakistani state and the TTP. The second contribution comes from senior journalist Ziaur Rehman, which explores factors of Afghanistan’s persisting outlook on Pakistan. The research underlines that whether Kabul absorbs the TTP within their ranks and files or expels it, Pakistan should allow Kabul to make its own choice.

ISLAMABAD: The Pakistani rupee on Thursday continued its downward trend against the US dollar, hitting a new low of 227 during the morning trade in the interbank market — despite the government’s assurances of market stability and incoming forex in the next few days. A day earlier, the rupee nosedived by a whopping Rs2.99, or 1.30%, in a single day to hit an all-time low of Rs224.92, the data released by the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) had shown. Analysts attribute the fresh depreciation to political uncertainty arising out of the outcome of the Punjab by-elections. In light of the deteriorating economic situation, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif had convened an emergency meeting with the country’s economic team and other high-ranking government officials. Finance Minister Miftah Ismail, however, believes that the economy is on the right track and once political stability returns — which has been uncertain since the coalition government’s take over — the rupee will strengthen against the dollar.

Global weather patterns are changing faster than most governments would like to admit. The international community has discussed the impacts of climate change at length but has been able to achieve little to counter it. Not only this, but each passing year likely brings more of these extreme weather events to a greater number of regions. In practice, however, there is little more than an attempt at firefighting, rather than looking for innovative or long-term solutions to the effects of climate change. Western Europe’s heatwaves are still one effect of the many associated with climate change; here at home, there are a multitude of risks.
