Federal government decides to establish economic zone in Karachi

KARACHI : The rescue operation at Gul Plaza continued for the ninth consecutive as search teams recovered more human remains from the debris of the collapsed building. Rescue 1122 and Urban Search and Rescue teams are actively engaged in clearing the rubble and searching for missing persons. According to rescue officials, human remains were recovered from the third floor of the damaged structure and have been shifted to Civil Hospital Karachi for DNA testing to confirm identities. Rescue sources say the operation is still ongoing, and there are fears that more bodies may be found as debris removal continues. Despite the passage of several days since the incident, rescue teams remain on-site, working to remove rubble and locate any remaining victims.

The ministry clarified that no order has been issued by the federal government or the armed forces to evacuate the Tirah Valley. There is no need for any population transfer or migration for these operations, nor is anything like this being done. The ministry said that it is also worth noting that the local population itself is expressing concern over the presence of Khawarij and wants peace and stability in Tirah.

In a message posted on the social media platform ‘X’, formerly known as Twitter, Ishaq Dar said, “Pakistan announces its decision to join the Board of Peace (BoP) in support of the Gaza Peace Plan under UNSC Resolution 2803”. Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif joined other world leaders on Thursday in signing the founding charter for the “Board of Peace,” a new international body chaired by US President Donald Trump.

Five of a family die as car rams into tractor
SIALKOT :Five members of a family died after their car rammed into a roadside stationary tractor-trolley on Daska Road, Dunya News reported here on Saturday night. According to police, the car collided with the tractor-trolley loaded with bricks on Daska Road, resulting in the death of five people and the injury of another. The horrific road accident occurred near a petrol station near Ghoyanki. According to initial reports, a tractor-trolley loaded with bricks was parked on the side of the road when a car coming from the direction of Daska hit it. Pakistan Navy rescues Sri Lankan crew 1,500km off Gwadar
KARACHI :– The Pakistan Navy successfully conducted a medical evacuation (MEDEVAC) of a Sri Lankan crew member from the Indonesian-flagged merchant vessel MV Grey Palm, approximately 1,500 kilometres off the coast of Gwadar. The operation was carried out following a request from the Sri Lankan Maritime Rescue Coordination Centre (MRCC). Upon receiving the distress call, Pakistan Navy dispatched its ships PNS Tabuk and PNS Moawin to the open seas for the emergency operation. The naval vessels reached the location and safely evacuated the ailing Sri Lankan crew member. Sri Lankan authorities and the patient’s family expressed gratitude for the timely intervention and assistance.

Plans to mass-convert to EVs may run up against the bitter reality that while there might be the generation capacity, the distribution network is in bad shape. While EVs are much cheaper than ICE vehicles to run, there is the problem of resale value. In other words, such vehicles do not have any resale value. Both two-wheelers and four-wheelers here have a resale value which makes them seen as stores of value, representing a substantial portion of the family savings.
