Speakers at a conference titled “Renewing Pakistan’s Energy Vision” hosted by Pakistan-based think tank Renewables First (RF) called for a more sustainable and inclusive energy landscape in Pakistan, emphasising the need for an evidence-based, long-term approach. The conference challenged conventional energy narratives and dispelled myths related to renewable energy. Renewables First’s Basit Ghauri underscored the urgency of adopting a data-driven and unbiased approach to expedite Pakistan’s energy transition. Experts spotlighted issues causing wind curtailment and capacity surplus in the power sector, stressing the importance of proper transmission infrastructure. Wind Expert, Fozan Waheed, noted that curtailment undermines renewable energy objectives, while Aqeel Jafri, Director (Policy) at Private Power and Infrastructure Board (PPIB), emphasised, “No transition is possible without proper transmission.”The conference also examined recent electricity price spikes and their underlying causes.

12 Oklahoma Sooners come to Dallas undefeated on the season. Maybe after watching the tape on this Texas defense, he’ll slide a bit more in Week Six. ReceiversThis Oklahoma offense likes to air the ball out — they are the seventh-most prolific passing offense. Lastly, Pete Kwiatkowski and this Texas defense need to keep an eye out for freshman wide receiver Nic Anderson. Such are all the post-9/11 conflicts; a world in waiting, a war that doesn’t end. For the rest of the world, the “normal” is a different normal now. With a history of partnership with the US, warming relations with China, and a firm identity in the Muslim world – its geopolitical role will remain interesting. Normalisation with Israel stands as the most pressing development right now that can easily compromise Saudi Arabia’s identity for Muslims across the world. For Pakistan and Afghanistan, left under the thick shadows of America’s war, a world in flux is hardly ready to settle down.

The outcome and resolutions of the recent meeting were, indeed, quite frightening as far as the preservation of international peace is concerned. If Nato countries feel they can defeat Russia by continuous acts of pricking and provoking, they are sadly mistaken. Anyone who can just estimate the distance between St. Petersburg and Vladivostok should be able to calculate how much space Russia has to absorb any type of attack. What good has it done except invading weak countries, like Iraq, Libya and Afghanistan? It may be difficult, but we should try to maintain a balanced stand in this unnecessary war.
