Activist Shaniera Akram and actor Armeena Khan recently exchanged a heated debate on Twitter. It all started when Shaniera took to X to share a rather vague statement about feelings of helplessness caused by fear. She held that she couldn’t find the words to articulate her feelings, and apologized if her statement offends anyone. In response, Armeena called her out for being at a loss of words for Palestine when she’s always been so vocal about Pakistan. https://t.co/ZaXDdhCeQl — Armeena ✨ (@ArmeenaRK) November 2, 2023Quote-sharing her tweet, Armeena wrote, "You have plenty of words to give when it’s Pakistan.

A significant reason for this decision was General Raheel Sharif’s familial connections with the prestigious figures within the Pakistani army. Additionally, Raheel Sharif’s uncle, Major Aziz Bhatti, was similarly honored for his courage and bravery during the 1965 war against India. However, during this decision-making process, Nawaz Sharif overlooked the fact that General Raheel Sharif’s elder brother, Major Shabbir Sharif, wasverya close friend of General Pervez Musharraf. Subsequently, General Raheel Sharif decided to create obstacles in the path of Nawaz Sharif’s government. By using the pretext of Pakistan’s economic downturn, the military spokesperson directly criticised the Nawaz Sharif government several times and, based on the Panama scandal in 2017, declared Nawaz Sharif disqualified for politics and sentenced him to a long imprisonment.

New Delhi- Schools were shut across India’s capital on Friday as a noxious grey smog engulfed the megacity and made life a misery for its 30 million inhabitants. Smoke from farmers burning crop stubble, vehicle exhaust and factory emissions combine every winter to blanket Delhi in a choking haze. The public health crisis has persisted for decades and researchers have blamed the smog for hundreds of thousands of premature deaths across India. Visible smog is a burden for residents through much of the year but the problem peaks at the start of winter around the Hindu festival of Diwali. That practice is one of the key drivers of Delhi’s annual smog problem, worsening the impact of vehicle and industrial emissions.

Interest payments on the country’s massive domestic and foreign debt load now account for over 90% of all government expenditure, an astounding amount that illustrates the true impact of devaluation and inflation over the past several months. Debt servicing costs rose 45% in the first quarter of the current fiscal year and are now almost equivalent to all federal income available after the disbursal of provincial shares. The huge increase is due to the rising cost of foreign debt repayment due to the rupee’s crash and the increased interest due on domestic borrowing because of record-high interest rates set by the State Bank to counter backbreaking inflation. Reducing the government’s debt-to-income ratio will still take a long time, and with IMF restrictions on deficit spending, it will be difficult to restore, let alone increase, spending on critical services and infrastructure such as health and education. Lately, disorder broke out over an incident of alleged desecration of the Holy Quran in Hyderabad. In the dead of night, enraged mobs torched several motorcycles and smashed the window panes of police mobile vans. In the trial, it was officially declared in court that he was wrongly accused of blasphemy by workers of the factory. A fair trial in a court of law is the right of every accused. It is high time the law prevailed over mobs; otherwise, no one would feel safe in this country.
