The government clarified that out of 2,705 missing persons in AP from 2019 to 2023, nearly 500 women were later located within the state. It said out of 26,099 persons missing since 2019, as many as 23,394 were traced while 2,705 remained untraced until Dec. 31, 2021. However, in 2022-23, out of 2,705 persons missing, 500 were found, which meant the missing persons were only 2,205 so far, the government claimed.

Jana Sena chief Pawan Kalyan in Eluru. He asked as to why the people should share their personal information with the volunteers. Pawan Kalyan said that when he raised the issue of missing women and girls, the people started discussing it. He said the volunteer system was becoming strong and cautioned that if it was not properly managed, it would lead to dangerous situations in the state. He called upon the people to think again before giving personal information about their girls and women to the volunteers.

ISLAMABAD - Minister for Information and Broadcasting Marriyum Aurangzeb on Monday accused Chairman PTI Imran Khan for spearheading the ‘ongoing campaign’ against national institutions. She alleged that former prime minister Imran Khan made systematic efforts to discredit and destabilize the state institutions through the misuse of social media platforms. Marriyum said the PTI chairman claimed that his party was the biggest one in the country, but it existed only on twitter as it had no credible spokesperson. The “group of troublemakers” was not even hesitant to launch unwarranted attacks against several prominent figures and institutions, she added. The minister said that the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) had substantial evidence against those who were involved in social media campaigns against national institutions, which was currently undergoing further scrutiny and investigation.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Tuesday unveiled the Prime Minister’s Initiative for Women Empowerment. The prime minister further highlighted that as chief minister of Punjab, he embarked upon different initiatives for women empowerment. Women empowerment, he further said, meant provision of equal opportunities to the women to participate fully in the national, economic and political affairs of the country. PM’s Special Assistant on Youth Affairs Shaza Fatima Khawaja said that the initiative was launched under the PM’s vision aimed at women empowerment. The funds will be used for various projects aimed at promoting gender equality and women empowerment with a total cost of Rs 10,410 million.

ISLAMABAD: Lahore will host the eight-team Olympic hockey qualifying round to be held from January 13 to 21, 2024. Otherwise, Pakistan will have to qualify for Olympics by finishing among the top three teams in the Lahore event. The top three teams in each of these FIH Hockey Olympic Qualification Tournaments will qualify for Paris 2024. As has been the case since Beijing 2008, 12 teams per gender will play at the Paris 2024 Olympic hockey tournaments, with each squad consisting of 16 athletes. Pakistan Hockey Federation (PHF) placed the bid to host the qualifying round event in 2019-20.

The Exchange Companies Association of Pakistan (ECAP) anticipates a gradual decline in the US dollar's value to first Rs270 and subsequently to Rs250 following the disbursement of funds from the International Monetary Fund (IMF). He attributed the surge to the reopening of new import LCs (Letter of Credits), which has increased demand for the dollar. Bostan emphasised that the dollar's value would stabilise once the current high demand is met.
