Agricultural Engineering is a specialised field, covering thirteen courses related to irrigation, drainage, hydrology, and water management, providing expertise crucial for the department’s responsibilities. The current practice of barring Agricultural Engineers from competing with Civil Engineers is unjust, given their qualifications and expertise. - Advertisement -The Irrigation Department’s responsibility involves managing water resources for agriculture, requiring professionals with skills in developing efficient irrigation systems. Allowing Agricultural Engineers to participate in competitions will ensure fair opportunities, promoting sustainable growth in irrigation and agriculture for the benefit of Pakistan’s economy.

Improved economy propels PSX to new highs

NEPRA notifies hike in power price by Rs 3.07/unit under FCA of October
ISLAMABAD: National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) has jacked up the power price by Rs 3.0786 per kilowatt hour (kWh) on account of fuel charges adjustment (FCA) for the month of October 2023. According to NEPRA notification, the hike in electricity prices will be applicable to all consumers except lifeline, Electric Vehicle Charging Stations (EVCS) and K-Electric. Central Power Purchasing Agency (CPPA), on the request of DISCOs, submitted an application with National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) to increase the electricity price under FCA of October, 2023. Likewise, power production from bagasse recorded at 29 GWh, the price of which has been calculated at Rs 5.9822 per unit. The electricity generated from wind was recorded at 191 GWh, 02 per cent of total generation and solar at 76 GWh, 0.79 per cent of the total generation in October 2023.

Georgia football leads the way with most All-SEC Coaches selections
ATHENS — Georgia did not win the SEC this year, as it came up just short against Alabama in the SEC championship game. The Bulldogs though did top the conference when it comes to All-SEC representation. Georgia had four players make First Team All-SEC and seven land on the second team. Bowers, Van Pran and Stackhouse were three of the 12 players recognized for having multiple All-SEC appearances. The SEC announced that individual awards will be released on Wednesday and the All-Freshman team will come out on Thursday.

Urbanisation is the process of people moving from rural areas to cities, posing a global challenge. In the 1950s, 70% of people lived in rural areas, but this has changed due to factors like industrialization and globalisation. Pakistan is the 6th most urbanised country, with 34% living in urban areas. For an area to be declared urban, it needs municipal facilities, hospitals, corporations, schools, and colleges, with a minimum population of 5,000. In essence, urbanisation involves people moving from rural to urban areas for improved economic opportunities or education.

Afghan Taliban arrest TTP terrorists amid growing pressure
In a significant development, the Afghanistan interim government has apprehended three commanders and 16 foot soldiers associated with the Malakand Division chapter of banned Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP). The move comes as Pakistan intensifies its pressure on the Afghan Taliban to take decisive action against the TTP, a group implicated in a spate of recent terrorist activities in Pakistan. Authorities revealed that the Bannu attack was carried out by an Afghan national, marking the latest in a series of attacks in Pakistan since the return of the Afghan Taliban to power in August 2021. Since the return of the Taliban to power in August 2021, Pakistan has witnessed a concerning surge in terrorist attacks. We have said all along that Florida State was never going to be beaten if they play their A game. On October 19th against Pitt, Florida State went to the locker room down 1-0.
