FCT sets up task force to curb maternal deaths
The FCT Administration made this known on Friday during the activation of the Maternal and Neonatal Mortality Reduction Innovation Initiative, MAMII, at the Primary Healthcare Centre, Garki Area 2, Abuja. As part of efforts to address the identified challenges, the administration inaugurated a MAMII task force to coordinate interventions aimed at reducing preventable maternal and newborn deaths across the territory. Also speaking, the FCT Mandate Secretary, Dr Dolapo Fasawe, said the newly inaugurated task force would have a broad responsibility covering pregnant women, healthcare facilities and communities. It is not time-bound.”She charged members of the task force to hold government officials, healthcare facilities, and even the national MAMII coordinator accountable for implementing the agreed interventions. Fasawe directed members of the task force to study the MAMII operational document and develop a work plan for implementation.

NIS extends UK passport intervention as 1,477 Nigerians enro
The Nigeria Immigration Service has extended its Special Passport Intervention Exercise in the United Kingdom to October 3, 2026, following a high turnout of applicants in London and Manchester. The Service said the exercise had been progressing smoothly at both centres despite initial challenges experienced on the first day. The extension was approved under the directive of the Minister of Interior, Dr Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, in response to the high turnout and growing demand for the intervention exercise. “No additional charges are required to participate in the intervention exercise,” the Service stressed. The service appreciated Nigerians in the UK for their patience and cooperation, assuring them of its commitment to providing efficient, transparent and responsive passport services to Nigerians at home and in the diaspora.
