The first explosion was 2,300 feet (700 meters) from Soleimani’s grave, and the second was 0.6 miles (1 kilometre) away as pilgrims visited the site, IRNA added. Videos posted on Iranian state media showed large crowds running in the area after the explosion. Footage also showed bloodied bodies being transported from the scene, and ambulances leaving the site through large crowds. The punch that floored Joseph Brandner, 34, at 11.30pm on 24 August was the start of it all. Brandner – who has been learning-disabled since being hit by a car at the age of 17 – was sucker-punched to the ground. The punch of 24 August burst “the bubble” of Berchtesgaden’s complacency, Palm said. It was at the Berghof that Hitler hosted Lloyd George, Neville Chamberlain and the former King Edward VIII and his wife, Wallis Simpson. It has, however, always been a place of pilgrimage for some – and the numbers appear to be on the rise.

Most of the deaths have been reported on the Noto Peninsula, in Ishikawa Prefecture, after the magnitude-7.6 tremor at 4.10 pm on Monday. Rescue efforts have also been slowed by repeated after-shocks from the earthquake, many of which have been sufficiently powerful to cause additional damage. According to the Japan Meteorological Agency, there have been more than 130 after-shocks, including four with a magnitude in the upper 5 range. Seven bodies have also been discovered within the municipal hospital in the town of Wajima, one of the hardest-hit communities.

Five people aboard a Japan Coast Guard aircraft died Tuesday when it hit a Japan Airlines passenger plane on the ground in a fiery collision at Tokyo’s Haneda airport. It’s believed the coastguard aircraft, which was taking food to areas hit by Monday’s powerful earthquake, collided with the Japan Airlines plane as it landed on the runway. But five of the six crew members from the smaller plane — bound for central Japan after Monday’s huge earthquake — died, Saito said. Television and unverified footage shared on social media showed the Japan Airlines (JAL) airliner moving along the runway before a large eruption of orange flames and black smoke burst from beneath and behind it. Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida confirmed that five of the six crew on the coastguard plane died while trying to get help to people affected by yesterday’s earthquake.

Nigerian foreign policy has remained immovable because it is enshrined in our Constitution. In pursuing his outlined foreign policy objectives, President Tinubu leveraged on both bilateral and multilateral engagement in his recorded 11 foreign trips in 2023 since his inauguration in May to set the pace in the attainment of the state foreign policy goals.
