Look, I’m not saying ACT are fascist, but amputating Pacific, Ethnic, Māori, Women’s and Youth political voices make their shirts a shade of Sepia doesn’t it? Sepia, chocolate or Bark, whatever the shade of shirt colour, it is a brown though right? A gun centric, public service mutilating free market level basic bitch bigotry we are talking about here right? They are wide eyes acolytes who are believers and I don’t think the vast majority actually understand their policy platform and how dangerous it will be to implement. One of the most discussed moments of the match was star Indian batter Shubman Gill’s dismissal in the second innings on Day 4. Gill was batting on 18 runs when he nicked a delivery by Scott Boland straight into Cameron Green’s hands. As the decision went down to the third umpire, many opined that the ball was clearly visible touching the ground as Green caught it. However, the decision was still deemed as out, and Gill was sent back to the pavilion. However, the early dismissal of the batters once again saw the team collapse and eventually the team got bundled out for 234 runs.

Chris Hipkins will take a trade delegation to China this month in the first Prime Ministerial visit to the country since the covid-19 pandemic. Hipkins said China was one of New Zealand’s most “signifiant, wide-ranging, and complex” relationships and it would be the first Prime Minister-led trade delegation since 2018. As the world's second largest economy, China is NZ’s largest single trading partner and purchases almost 25% of its total exports. The Prime Minister would not say whether the trip to China would include a meeting with President Xi Jinping. “We’ve prided ourselves in our relationship with China in being stable and consistent in our position,” he said.

The Office of the Auditor-General has written a letter to Parliament saying not enough attention is being paid to whether Provincial Growth Fund investments are worthwhile. The Provincial Growth Fund (PGF) is a legacy of the 2017 coalition government in which New Zealand First negotiated the $3 billion fund for regional development projects. The Auditor-General, which has been critical of the fund in the past, said it would examine these changes — which it called ‘the PGF reset’ — at an appropriate time. It said the PGF reset had not met all its expectations, despite those expectations being low as the reset had been “designed and implemented at speed” during pandemic uncertainty. Act Party leader David Seymour said the provincial growth fund was never about regional economic development.

Andrea Vance And Stuff's Blatant Bias Unravelled - AgainRt Hon Winston PetersSince yesterday I have had a number of calls concerning political 'opinion' columnist Andrea Vance and her article about the role of third parties in the upcoming election. Vance laid bare both her biased narrative and lack of political understanding with her article. Vance mentioned every other party in her “analysis”, including ones that have never set foot near parliament and have never won a seat – nor look likely to. This includes having Ministers, Cabinet Ministers, Deputy Prime Minister, Acting Prime Minister, in a coalition government last term. There is only one reasonable conclusion for New Zealand First being omitted – the continuation of the long held bias being shown by both Vance and Stuff.

The tax plan also included a 1.5 per cent tax on trust assets, and an increase in the top rate of income tax from 39 per cent to 45 per cent paid on income over $180,000. The party hiked other income taxes too, although these are paired with income tax cuts at the lower end of the scale. GoodThe 33 per cent tax rate would be hiked to 35 per cent, although the threshold for paying that rate would be $75,000, rather than $70,000 as currently. Good, the first $10000 should be tax free, that should be seen as yours. The Green Party tax policy makes a slightly bigger pie but a Financial Transaction Tax on the other hand hurts the speculators hardest.

Card spending fell for the first time since February. Electronic card spending fell $113 million, or a 1.7 per cent slump, in May compared to April this year with core spending (excluding fuel) down 1.2 per cent or $69m. Westpac senior economist Satish Ranchhod said retail spending was “much weaker than expected”. “Today’s weak spending result highlights the growing pressure on households’ finances,” Ranchhod said. In actual terms, retail card spending came in at $6.4 billion in May, up 3.3 per cent ($203m) on May 2022.

Photo: SuppliedResidents in a Bay of Plenty town are fed up with their rusty brown tap water, which they say is nasty to drink, dirties washing and causes skin irritations. "We are at our wits' end because we have small children in the house, and every time we go to run a bath or shower it's brown. I don't think we should pay any rates whatsoever until the council sorts it, because prisoners don't get fed the kind of water that we're getting fed." Kawerau has been battling problems with discoloured water for the last five years, since chlorine was added to comply with safety standards, turning it yellow. Meanwhile, the council was removing residue from the reservoirs, and would only take water from the Tarawera Bores for the next three weeks.

Fire ripped through a house in Ōpōtiki on Sunday night amid increased gang tensions in the eastern Bay of Plenty town. The house was well alight when the crews arrived, fire and emergency shift manager Josh Pennefather says. Police had expected to complete the scene examination on St John Street on Sunday evening. “Police will maintain a visible and increased presence in the Ōpōtiki area over the coming days,” he said. In 2019, Ōpōtiki had the dubious honour of being the murder capital of New Zealand with 1.25 homicides per 1000 people recorded between 2004 and 2019 – the highest rate in the country.

Mainfreight’s Don Braid hopes to hold onto as much pandemic-fueled revenue as possible. Supply chain chaos has pushed global logistics company Mainfreight’s annual revenue above $5.5 billion, but those fortunes could falter as freight volumes decline. “Part of that is about, I think, de-stocking and a lack of ordering, by importers, retailers,” Mainfreight managing director Don Braid told Markets with Madison. In the year to March, Mainfreight’s (MFT) volumes began dropping, with total air freight kilograms down 8 per cent and the number of sea freight twenty-foot containers down 7 per cent. Watch Braid discuss Mainfreight’s moderation, its $676 million capital investment plan and succession plans, on today’s episode of Markets with Madison above.

Online, people filed complaints to The Warehouse through customer support, asking why the company supported paedophilia and the sexualisation of children. It started with a campaign against the beer brand Bud Light after it partnered with influencer Dylan Mulvaney, who is trans. They are engineered to punish companies that support the rainbow community and are meant to intimidate other companies from doing the same. “If they decide to shove this garbage in our face, they should know that they’ll pay a price.”New Zealand doesn’t have Bud Light or Target (well, not that Target). The Bud Lighting is likely to continue, given the success of the campaigns against Bud Light and Target.
