It was a laughing stock last election but it has knuckled down and Christoper Luxon has given it some discipline and shape. His comment that New Zealand was a negative, wet and whiny country was clearly his intent, and not a criticism. More needs to be done but we need a Labour Government to continue with work in all of these areas. So what I am asking you to do is be proud about these achievements and be brave with future announcements.

The Green Party summarised moves in tax are:• 2.5% Wealth Tax on assets worth more than $4million (minus debt) for couple and $2 million (minus debt) for individuals. Indeed for the most part we are both so foreign owned and so spatially bound that capital flight is a lessened risk. Well the answer to capital flight risk is not really corporations. It happened when France introduced a wealth tax in 1989. 99% of us under Green and Maori Party tax proposals will be fine.

The latest record on the rocks is his record for most individual medals all-time at a World Aquatics Championships, which was tied by Sweden’s Sarah Sjostrom on Saturday with a gold medal in the 50 fly. Phelps, 38, and Sjostrom, 29, both won their first World Championship medals, each gold, when they were only 15 years old. Sjostrom won her first medal at 15 when she broke the World Record in the women’s 100 meter fly at the 2009 World Championships. Phelps won his first at the 2001 World Championships (also in Fukuoka) in the 200 fly, also in a World Record time. Tough decisions for Labour, as they put together a List that may only yield a handful of MPs. The Party's putting the finishing touches on its List rankings, which will show the MPs most likely to get into Parliament post-election. Current polling shows Labour's 62-person caucus could drop by a third in October, with the number of List MPs falling from 19 to as few as half a dozen. NZ Herald political editor Claire Trevett says this is set to be a difficult time, as Labour has a massive caucus to bring down. LISTEN ABOVE

The Front Page: Anxiety, fear and the psychological impact of rising crimeAll eyes were fixed on Auckland last week when a gunman entered a construction site and opened fire. The same people screaming that the mainstream media are scaring us over Covid are more than happy to promote crime clickbait by that very same media! As the desperation drives violent crime via a Crime Porn News filter to insecure viewers, watch how the crime debate disintegrates into lynch mob level bumper sticker slogans. Your anger is being manipulated by the ‘Get Tough on Crime’ Cheerleaders for counter productive policy and the NZ Herald is one of the worst at manipulating you! Increasingly having independent opinion in a mainstream media environment which mostly echo one another has become more important than ever, so if you value having an independent voice – please donate here.

'You'll laugh, you'll cry and you'll scream' says the new Spookers owner Bill Geradts as the Herald takes on the new and improved experience. “We’ve got fresh corpses, we’ve got fresh blood, we’ve got a giant spider on the side of the building. Photo / Spookers“Virtually, a lot of the new stuff that’s in Spookers is locally made. There’s stuff in Wellington where we’ve got some fresh corpses from and bodies and there’s a lot of blood and guts that we make in Christchurch and here (Auckland). From this scaredy-cat to you, go visit Spookers for a good scare, a good laugh and a good time.

That power was demonstrated to even greater effect the following day in Wellington. Since Keen-Minshull has announced her intention to visit New Zealand again in September of this year (perilously close to the election date!) Moreover, since the trans community set the rules of political engagement so violently in March, Keen-Minshull’s defenders in September are unlikely to pull their punches. This was the clause cited by the trans community back in March as they attempted to keep Keen-Minshull out of the country. Let the trans community register its disagreement and disgust.
