'Vital': New Zealand spinner Mitchell Santner (R. Satish BABU)An unassuming cricketer like most of his New Zealand teammates, Mitchell Santner has been the team's go-to bowler at the World Cup and will play his 100th ODI against Australia on Saturday with high expectations. Santner has been a key player for IPL side Chennai Super Kings who won a record-equalling fifth title this year. - 'Another Vettori' -Santner has bagged 103 wickets including two five-wicket hauls in 99 ODI matches since his debut in 2015 against England in Birmingham. The legendary left-arm spinner likened Santner to New Zealand spin great Daniel Vettori, who interestingly will be with the Aussie team on Saturday as their spin bowling coach. Santner bats in the lower order but his grit and determined approach make him a tough challenge with the bat.

Mark Mitchell has proposed that gang members be required to apply foundation to their faces to hide gang insignia tatoos before going out in public. The party is also promising to allow police to search suspected gang members, their vehicles and properties without warrants, and issue dispersal notices banning gang members from talking to one others. The temporary warrant enabled police to freely search vehicles and properties owned by suspected gang members. In which case they may prefer that gang members actually display their patches and don’t apply foundation to their gang insignia so they can be readily identified. When they were last in power they came up with a not dissimilar proposal which became the Prohibition of Gang Insignia in Government Premises Act 2013.

Auckland could be on the verge of another housing crisis as the recent surge of immigration-driven population growth outstrips the supply of new homes being built in the region. In the following 12 months from June 2021 to June 2022 that trend was even more dramatic. However that situation reversed completely over the the following 12 months as the government reopened the immigration floodgates, largely in response to employers' calls for more overseas labour. Those trends meant that over the 12 months to June this year, Auckland's population increased by 47,000 people, requiring an additional 15,667 homes. That suggests the Auckland housing market is at a turning point where immigration-driven demand starts to outstrip supply, which could see a return of the housing shortages that plagued the region prior to 2020.
