Giving consumers cheaper alternatives, genuinely
Yes, it is about the availability of plastic bags to place my purchases when I shop at my favorite supermarket in Bangsar. Earlier this month, this supermarket completely stopped making available plastic bags at the checkout counter in their campaign to save the planet. If it is to save the planet, then the consumers should be offered a cheaper alternative (like brown paper bags) to the high priced recyclable bags. It looks as if the profit from selling the plastic bags is insufficient to cover their bonuses. I have shopped in Tesco and Sainsbury in London and I had the choice of paying 20 pence for a much sturdier plastic bag.

Postman returns lost wallet with RM1,000 to owner

Without a second thought, he posted a photo of the wallet and owner’s identity card on his Facebook page and sought the public’s help to contact the owner. Azlan said the 46-year-old owner was informed by his friends and was happy to get his wallet back. “At about 5pm, he rushed from Penang island to the Simpang Ampat post office on the mainland to reclaim his wallet. This is the first time I found a wallet and I understand that being honest is a virtue, ” he added.

Resourceful use of discards
Although called watermelon skin soup, it actually uses the white watermelon rind without the green outer skin. When prawn stock has come to the boil, add in prawn flesh that has been pounded with shallots and belacan. Texturally, another area of concern is to ensure that the watermelon rind is not cooked for too long or it will turn to mush. Cut the white watermelon rind into cubes of about 3cm. Add the watermelon rind and chillies and simmer for about 10 minutes until the rind turns slightly translucent.

My opinion is that oil seed and vegetable oil prices will have to be higher in the years to come, so that oil seed plantings, investment in oil seeds, oil seed yields and oil seed production are being raised to compensate for insufficient growth in palm oil, ” he adds. On the intensifying campaign against palm oil in Europe in recent years and the worst-case scenario for palm oil demand, Fry regarded it as a zero-sum game.

Time to travel locally

Rohana added that business at present very much depended on the daily number of Covid-19 cases in the area. “When the number goes up, my business will go down as people start to shy away from the market. “We used to slaughter between 500 and 600 chickens a day but now we only slaughter 200 birds, ” he said. Umno Youth to take legal action if EC doesn’t step up

When poor upkeep of facilities affects public
The MBPJ councillor in charge of the area, Bryan Ng, said a long-term solution to address the uneven tiling was in the pipeline. Local councils should be held responsible for not providing and maintaining facilities in public areas within their jurisdictions. In addition, the authors suggested that to ensure they provide good service, an assessment of the local councils’ performance was required. All local councils need to have a team looking out for problem areas or potential hazards that are a risk to people’s safety and rectify them before an accident occurs. Perhaps it is time to put in place a mechanism to assess local councils’ performance.
