Monrovia – The Liberia Football Association (LFA) has nullified both the 2019/2020 Orange National League and Petro Trade Cup due to the global Coronavirus pandemic (COVID-19). The executive committee resolved to use a play-off of the top four teams in the first division in the event the Confederation of African Football (CAF) requests a representative from Liberia for the (CAF) Champions League. Players and or coaches, who had contracts with clubs, including those whose contracts were due to end at the end of the 2019/2020 season, will start anew. The executive committee’s decisions were discussed with clubs at the Antoinette Tubman Stadium (ATS) on May 5. First division defending champions LPRC Oilers, LISCR FC, Mighty Barrolle, Freeport FC, Monrovia Club Breweries, Small Town, Nimba FC, Bea Mountain, Watanga FC; second division defending champions Barrack Young Controllers (BYC-II), Tony FC, Muscat FC, Mighty Blue Angels, Gardnersville FC, Jubilee FC, Sandi FC, Stages FC, Heaven Eleven and female division defending champions Earth Angels, Blanco FC, Determine Girls, Senior Professionals, World Girls, Island Queens, Professionals Sisters, Ambassador FC and Hippo FC attended the meetings.

Turning over the Items, the UN Women Country Representative, Marie Goreth, congratulated the head of the National Response Team for being nominated by President Weah. Madam Goreth affirmed that women, girls and children are the pillar groups in the fight against COVID-19. The donated items will be distributed by the COVID-19 National Response to the targeted groups along with their heads for the purpose of accountability and transparency, said the minister. Institutions earmarked for the donated items include, the National Peace Hut Women of Liberia, National Rural Women Structure of Liberia, Destined Kids Assistance Program, THINK Safe Home Center, Association of Disabled Females International and the Group of 77. Dr. Gibson is the Medical Director at the Redemption Hospital. Earlier, Mr. Matthew Darblo, chief executive officer of Varney Taylor Foundation-Liberia told the Redemption Hospital’s management that his foundation won’t be complacent in this difficult and challenging time. We tried to raise funds to assist us because the road conditions have gotten worst over the years,” community member Abenego Kollie told our reporter. The road has really been a problem for us.”One other community member, who gave her name as Beatrice, said the road has been a problem for generations upon generations. The aggrieved married Couples explained to FPA that whenever they engaged director Yeah on the matter, he always rained insults and abuses at them. It’s no surprise, therefore, that the COVID-19 crisis presents quite a significant challenge for the Liberian government. But amid all this, very little has been heard from the country’s two leading GSM companies: Lonstar MTN and Orange. But even before the onset of transmission in Liberia, the government took steps to improve the profitability of the two telecommunications companies. When business is good, that means tens of millions of dollars for both GSM companies. They should pay their fair share for the ‘responsible’ corporate citizens they claim to be, not the other way around.
