Updated: 5pmA cold spell of weather has moved over Ireland and is forecast to last for much of the next week, with Met Éireann issuing a cold weather advisory for much of next week. The forecaster said the country will experience a respite from recent wet and windy weather as high pressure builds from the Azores over the weekend and becomes established over Ireland into next week. The change in the weather pattern will mean cold, clear and generally calm conditions with little rain. While it will be cold, it will be mainly dry with sunny spells as the high pressure will prevent any significant rainfall. Met Éireann said current indications suggest high pressure will be in control of our weather until next weekend when the models show a breakdown to more unsettled, but still cold, weather.

The other Willie Mullins runner Night and Day looked a useful prospect when destroying her rivals in a Clonmel Maiden Hurdle but since then has not been able to build on her debut. 14.00 Lawlor’s of Naas Novice Hurdle Grade 1This is a quality field in front of us with all 8 runners being there on merit and holding every chance. Ile Atlantique (9/4): The flag bearer for the Willie Mullins stable and he is a horse that really could be anything for Owner Tony Bloom. He is a brother to Grade 1 winning Hurdler Farren Glory who looks an exceptional talent for Gordon Elliot. Lecky Watson (12/1): The Willie Mullins trained Lecky Watson poses an extremely interesting profile in this race.

The Cathaoirleach of Roscommon County Council has warned that rates could have to be increased at some point in the future. The council’s budget at €75.4 million, was welcomed and unanimously approved by the councillors at a recent meeting. “As I said at the outset, there is no rates increase on this occasion,” Cllr Keogh said. “In the very near future, we are going to have to look at the possibility of a rates increase.” He said that the incoming council would have to give it “serious consideration”. “There has been no increase in rates for the last seven years, since 2018.
