Published to coincide with Safer Internet Day, the findings underline the risky environments in which some children are accessing the online world, and how young some of them are. Almost a quarter (24 per cent) of six year olds have their own smartphone and 45 per cent of 10 year olds are allowed use their smartphones in their bedrooms. The same rules should apply to protecting children online as apply to the offline world, it adds. Supervision of internet access is lower during weekends and holiday times. Some 80 per cent of parents of children aged 11 with smartphones said their child’s internet access is only sometimes or never supervised.

WALES could be short changed as a consequence of a UK Government agreement to restore power-sharing in Northern Ireland, a Labour backbencher warned. Alun Davies, who represents Blaenau Gwent, welcomed the deal between UK ministers and the Democratic Unionist Party (DUP) to restore devolved government in Northern Ireland. The deal is set to unlock a £3.3bn financial package from Westminster for Northern Ireland. Mr Davies said: “We need to understand what the new needs-based formula is for Northern Ireland, and how it will affect the ongoing funding. “It’s a good day for devolution, particularly for people in Northern Ireland, who have been crying out for the restoration of the devolved government and, indeed, Stormont.

Joe McCarthy’s selection, though bold, was recognition that the 22-year-old was the form lock in the country this season, by a distance. He understands that an infusion of new blood - particularly characters like McCarthy and Crowley - can also have an infectious effect on older teammates. Cue a stale and muddled French display, whereas Ireland looked energised, smarter and better coached. Nor does this even completely relay the true story, for the quality of Ireland’s ball was also markedly superior. France shortly scored after Crowley had found touch ten metres from the French line before the penalty was reversed.

Farrell cools talk of next Grand Slam despite 'feel-good factor' for IrelandEd Elliot, PAAndy Farrell believes talk of leading Ireland to successive Grand Slam titles is premature as he attempts to build on the “feel-good factor” created by a resounding Guinness Six Nations victory over France. Reigning champions Ireland made a statement of intent in Friday evening’s curtain-raiser in Marseille with a stunning 38-17 bonus-point success over the pre-tournament favourites. “In reality it’s one win, it’s one win out of one and we’ve got to be on to the next one. “There’s always the balance about opportunity but also doing what’s right for the team and the cohesion of the team going forward. World Irish and UK leaders are in Belfast to celebrate the end of Northern Ireland’s political deadlockThe leaders of the U.K. and Ireland went to Belfast Monday to meet Northern Ireland’s newly revived government and bask in a good-news moment after two years of political crisis. The ministers wasted no time before pressing London for more money to patch up Northern Ireland’s creaking public services. The Democratic Unionist Party boycotted the administration to protest post-Brexit trading arrangements that it said undermined Northern Ireland’s place in the United Kingdom. Under power-sharing rules established as part of Northern Ireland’s peace process, the administration in Belfast must include both British unionists and Irish nationalists.
