President Donald Trump has pledged not to put American boots on the ground as the Iran war spiraled with strikes on oil and gas facilities across the region. The way I worked aggravated the problem.”Mary O’Keeffe is a researcher at University College Dublin who specialises in musculoskeletal pain. She has seen how desk-bound workers like Nicola Gaffney can develop “neck pain, sore shoulders, upper back tightness, and lower back pain. Musculoskeletal pain is one of the most common reasons for work absence across Europe, which shows how widespread these problems can be. What should they be doing to minimise their risk of musculoskeletal pain? “Research shows that exercise — even something as simple as regular walking — is the only thing that consistently reduces the risk of musculoskeletal pain coming back once someone has had it before,” she says.

Demolition has begun of a house in Bohermeen, Navan, Co Meath, that was built 20 years ago without planning permission. He was confident of getting planning permission for reasons including he was a local and proposing to farm the land. The couple did not seek a High Court judicial review of the refusal. Anna Hickey: 'This would not have been picked up if I’d had my mammogram on the original date.' It is not normal to be grateful for a delayed hospital appointment, but for Anna Hickey, it was extremely fortunate. Had her mammogram gone ahead as scheduled, cancer cells would not have been detected. “Thankfully, the cancer hadn’t spread, so I didn’t need further treatment and was able to have a reconstruction at the same time. This meant that when I woke up from surgery, I wasn’t faced with the loss of a breast,” she adds.

Measures designed to curb rent increases or restrict evictions may be manageable for large institutional landlords, but they can place disproportionate strain on smaller operators. Faced with rising costs, increased compliance burdens, and reduced flexibility, many small landlords are choosing to exit the market altogether. Over recent years, there has been a steady increase in the turnover of small landlords, contributing to a contraction in rental supply. Without a significant increase in housing supply, no amount of regulation will resolve the underlying imbalance. In the end, building more homes — not increasing interference in the rental market — is the only durable path to stability.

Not just general sex but women’s sex, and as in any school's teacher cohort, poor John is outnumbered three to one. Ever since, I’ve been noticing just how many shows offer this sort of ‘sex for women’ fare. Maybe we’re looking for sex on TV not for empowerment but for distraction. In all honesty, I’m not sure why there is so much sex for women on TV. I’m bound to figure out why there’s so much ‘sex for women’ on TV by the end of season two, right?

For those worried about online privacy and data sovereignty, Motorola unveiled just the thing for them: a new handset running the privacy-focused software GrapheneOS. The operating system is a so-called fork of the Android operating system that runs 72 per cent of mobile phones worldwide. Behind GrapheneOS is a Canadian non-profit foundation founded a decade ago to strip back Android, owned by Google, to its origins as a sleek, privacy-respecting open-source operating system. `Personal security’Though active online, GrapheneOS team members have learned to be cautious with their public profiles after their lead developer stood aside in 2023 amid repeated harassment. And though the software is popular among online tinfoil-hatters, GrapheneOS developers insist their main aim is to create an operating system that returns a smartphone to full ownership of you, its user-owner.

English clubs faltering in Europe is hardly a new phenomenon. It was only a decade ago that the Premier League feared it might lose its fourth Champions League spot after no top-flight side reached the quarter-finals in two seasons out of three. The Irish businessman fired from his job leading the redeveloped Battersea Power Station says he was ousted in retaliation for blowing the whistle on financial misreporting that gave a false picture to investors and the public. Days after he showed King Charles around the site in December 2024, the Cork-born chief executive of the Battersea Power Station Development Company was suspended. According to O’Sullivan, this approach resulted in the unbuilt parts of the site becoming overvalued on the balance sheet of BPS Holding, the group of entities responsible for developing the broader Battersea site. PwC, which audits BPS Holding, has not been accused of any wrongdoing. BPS Holding, which is not a party to the litigation, has also denied any accounting irregularities.
