According to him, having traveled to African countries that have been ravaged by war and instability, he will not sit back for irresponsible individuals and groups to plunge Ghana into chaos. He cited particularly the case of Rwanda, Central African Republic and neighbouring Liberia and Sierra Leone to buttress his point. “I have been to Central African Republic, Sierra Leone and Liberia and I have seen what havoc war can wreak. “The way we are pampering false reportage especially Joy FM… it is Joy FM that will bring war to Ghana with their false reportage, false reportage can lead us into Rwanda. Peaceful Sierra Leone descended into chaos with the complicity of the media,” he added.

This is the view of the immediate past Moderator of the Global Evangelical Church, GEC, Very Reverend Edem Tettey; who has also decried what he describes as the increasing "loss of taste" by the church generally. Reverend Tettey presented these views when he delivered the inaugural Rev Edward Kodzo Amenyedu Leadership Excellence Award Lecture in Accra over the weekend. The Lecture was on the topic: “Contemporary Leadership Challenges Confronting the Church of Christ in Ghana." Parliament is currently considering a strong law to criminalize the practice of same-sex relationships. The clergy - Christian and Islamic - have also been vocal in voicing opposition to the practice which they deem as unacceptable spiritually but also morally and culturally.

It is the hope of the MPs that this motion will bring an end to the knee-jerk practice with which businesses respond to what they must provide for communities when they agitate. The current arrangement where only the Directive Principle of State Policy under Chapter 6 of the 1992 Constitution that pushes for CSR, he said, is not enough. When the community people complain then the companies come and drop anything in their pan and I do not think that is the way to go. “Again, giving back to the country should not be at the discretion of these companies. Why is it that a company goes to build a two-bedroom house for a whole community and they feel they have executed on corporate social responsibility?” he explained.
