As part of Ghana’s response to the global pandemic, Ghana received US$100M from the World Bank. The government used US$35 million towards the Ghana Emergency Preparedness and Response Project.

But responding to the petition to the General Legal Council, Lawyer Kwasi Afrifa mentioned the name of the Chief Justice His Lordship Kwasi Anin Yeboah. He also added that the Chief Justice also admonished his client to change his lawyer from Kwasi Afrifa to Akoto Ampaw in order to help his case. According to Chief Justice, he does not know the person in question and has neither demanded nor received any money.

He said such allowances have consistently been paid to past and incumbent presidential spouses since 2001 when former President John Agyekum Kufuor assumed office and it is a good gesture that some beneficiaries of the allowances have returned them to the State’s coffers.
