Five of the alleged armed pirates according to the report seized the vessel for at least six hours, disembarking with five crew members onboard, which includes the captain, chief officer, second chief officer, chief engineer and boatswain’s mate. “They also stole belongings and valuables of the crew,” a security source told Asaase radio.

General News of Wednesday, 21 July 2021Source: ghanaguardian.comA Lance Corporal stationed at the Koforidua- Effiduase Police Station in the New Juaben North Municipality of the Eastern Region has allegedly been murdered by an unknown person in her car. The deceased, Victoria Ntowaah of Effiduase Police charge office was found dead inside her Chevrolet private car with a registration number DP – 4037- G at Asokore-Kobriso Tuesday evening. DGN Online gathered that a car ignition key was found inside the keyhole and further information gathered was that she was alone in the car. The deceased body was inspected and there were bruises on the left shoulder, with the face and the left hand swollen. The body has since been conveyed to the Effiduase Hospital morgue for autopsy, as investigation is still ongoing.

According to them, government needs to stabilize the cedi against the French CFA in order to effectively transact cattle business in neighboring countries such as Burkina Faso, Mali, and so on. Speaking to GhanaWeb, Chairman of the Kumasi Butchers Association, Chief Abdul Wahab Tikuma said cattle that were bought for less than Gh¢25,000 has now increased to ¢40,000. “We were buying cattle for less than GH¢25,000 but now we buy it for GH¢40,000 because of the cedi rate to the CFA. On his part, treasurer of the cattle dealers association, Alhaji Baba Ahmed said the association is worried about the government's failure to fulfill promises it made with regards to cedi stabilization. We plead with the government to as a matter of urgency do something about the cedi depreciation to save our business", he stressed.

In the video sighted by GhanaWeb, the driver who seemed unperturbed about the possible danger was captured struggling with the police officer for his car key although the car was still in motion. While furiously demanding for his keys, the driver asked to be rather escorted to the police station if he is indeed guilty of any offence. The Tesano Police Commander ACP Oduro Amaning, siding with this particular notion has since condemned the actions of the police officer. The ACP insisted that the police could have called for a backup when he felt the situation was overwhelming.

According to him, the new bill will primarily strengthen the role and oversight of the Commission on Human Rights and Administrative Justice (CHRAJ) in investigating issues with regard to Public Office holders. Speaking at a stakeholder forum held on Monday, July 19 Attorney-General and Minister for Justice, Godfred Dame said the bill when passed seeks to regulate how public officers conduct themselves to ensure their activities are in the interest of the nation. Currently, legislation on corruption in Ghana is inadequate to deal extensively with Public Office accountability,” Dame said. As a result of this, the Attorney General Office has begun the entire process for the bill again with optimism it will be granted Parliamentary Approval by the House.

Additionally, Akoto Ampaw in the concluding part of his response sighted by GhanaWeb outlined some five "facts" regarding Afrifa and the bribery accusations levelled against the Chief Justice. On 31st March, 2021, the Supreme Court granted our application by a four to one ruling. Beyond that I have had no dealings whatsoever with the Chief Justice in this matter. Even more preposterous is the infantile idea that I would collude with anyone, much more the Chief Justice of our Republic, to subvert the cause of justice.

The project dubbed, ‘Save a life today’ seeks to address challenges of access to clean water by pupils during school and contact hours to ensure effective teaching and learning as well as curb the spread of water-borne diseases and other communicable diseases and improve upon water hygiene among children. The project, which provides water bottles to the school children in selected basic schools, further aims to contribute to curbing the spread of the coronavirus disease. “This is the second donation we are doing, we started with Regentropfen Basic School and we have a list of other schools to donate to, with some in the Bongo District,” Mr. Anaba said. Mr. Paul Vincent Anafo, the Headteacher of the Nangodi Primary School, expressed gratitude to the NGO for helping the school to promote effective teaching and learning among pupils and teachers.
