Out of the 1000 films that were submitted; 20 were retained to compete for the price l’Étalon d'or de Yennenga, which is a prestigious award handed over during the festival. The 20 contestants are from the following 15 African countries;Ivory Coast, Morocco, Tunisia, Guadalupe, Benin, Ghana, Mali, Niger, Senegal, Tanzania, Cameroon, Ethiopia, Algeria, South Africa and Burkina Faso. Film maker extraordinaire; Achille Brice, is representing Cameroon, as his movie; Life Point got selected for the award. The festival will be taking place from the 25 February- 4th March in Burkina Faso.

The Cameroonian doctor gives health advice on YouTube, in mostly in Pidgin English, as a way to counter infrastructure bottlenecks in the country where access to doctors and remains a challenge. Dr. Sea calls what she does ‘meducation’ the topics covered are mostly done in pidgin English, which is widely spoken in parts of West Africa. The physician started filming videos in 2014 after a colleague asked if she was interested in filming health segments. Dr Sea wants to help fill the gap in medical services through her program.

Even though nothing filtered out of the two briefings, Mr Garga Haman sounded positive to Journalists all will be well. The visit of the former government minister comes after the PM and his Director of Cabinet failed to solve the crisis rocking the two English Speaking regions. Several meetings with Trade Unionists and ad hoc committee have ended in a deadlock; the arrival of Garga Haman is seen by many as a good sign for the course.

It was an emotional atmosphere Tuesday January 10, 2017 at the governor’s office in Bamenda, North West region following the arrival of 21 now former detainees arrested on December 8, 2016 and ferried to Yaoundé. Some mothers could be seen rolling on the ground after discovering that their children were not among the 21. The 21 youths were received by Governor Adolphe LELE L’Afrique of the North West region who encouraged them to start and live a normal life. No information has filtered as to when they remaining 20 youths will be released.

The Senior Divisional Officer for Mezam in the North West Region, Songa Pierre accompanied by his close collaborators Tuesday has sealed the doors of a Bamenda based popular radio, Hot Cocoa FM 94.0. According to the regional order brandished on the seal letter, the interactive program has been helping to fuel the existing crisis in Bamenda. According to the Presenters they received several calls from anonymous callers after last Fridays edition threatening that the station will be closed down. However journalists of Hot Cocoa Radio who also work for Horizon Television which shares same building with the Radio have been going in and out of the premises since Horizon television was not sealed.
