General News of Tuesday, 16 August 2016Source: cameroon-tribune.cmOperational Command Tactics: military officers complete trainingPhoto d'archive36 officers aged between 35 and 53 years from various corps of Defence Forces from Mali, Congo, Côte d’Ivoire, Cameroon and Benin have scored a 100 percent success rate after a five-month tactical and operational decision-making course at the Military Command Staff School in Yaounde. During the closing of the 21st Command Staff Diploma course on August 12, 2016, in Yaounde presided at by the Secretary of State at the Ministry of Defence in charge of the National Gendarmerie, Jean Baptiste Bokam, the laureates were urged to impact their subordinates back in their units of command with the skills acquired. Team spirit, humility and moral integrity were qualities they were each told to showcase. Scoring 14.98 points out of 20 to emerge first during the training, Captain Dimo Jules of Cameroon’s Rapid Intervention Battalion (BIR) testified to the press that the trainees had acquired skills in general development, tactical decision-making methods, office automation as well as operational warfare techniques not only on the national but international scene. The training course which was adapted to current security challenges was organised with assistance from the French Cooperation.

It should be recalled that the three seduced FC Lorient club officials during their participation at the Military World Cup in France. Interestingly Nkada Agnes emerged as the Best Goal Scorer, grabbed the golden shoe of the Military World Cup.

As a result, the equitable sharing of the lake’s resources has become a tall order. It is for this reason that the International Union for the Conservation of Nature, IUCN, in partnership with the Lake Chad Basin Commission, LCBC and BRIDGE Africa, organised a three-day workshop to drill different stakeholders on good practices. The Douala event assembled participants from LCBC member countries, National Platforms of Cameroon and Chad, Trans-boundary Platform of the Chari-Logone Basin, LCBC and Volta Basin Authority representatives, and partners. They learnt techniques of good governance and equitable benefit-sharing of water resources from the lake.

Officials of the Nigeria Immigration Services intercepted the couple with the two-week-old baby at the Nfum control post in Etung Local Government Area in Cross River State. Cross River State’s Comptroller of the Immigration Service, Mrs. Funke Adeuyi, made the disclosure while fielding questions from newsmen shortly after parading the suspects at the Immigration Office in Calabar. Adeuyi said: “The baby looked so weak and pale, as if he had not tasted breast milk. The couple claimed to have been married for 15 years, and decided to leave Cameroon for Nigeria to take herbal drugs that would make her pregnant. An official of NAPTIP opera-ting in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State, Mr. Victor Obazee, while receiving the baby, lauded NIS for a thorough job and the steady patrol team, which they maintain in the border areas of Cross River State.
