He invited the representatives of the holding company to a genuine collaboration with COBAC, in order to have a better understanding of the Express Union Group in its entirety and a better assessment of its risk profile. Express Union is a Cameroonian financial company created in 1997 with its headquarters in Yaoundé. Initially, it specialised in rapid money transfers and its scope of activity is within Cameroon where it is market leader. Since 2006, the company obtained authorisation from COBAC and the Cameroonian Ministry of Finance to create a second category microfinance structure.

These Treasury bonds of 52 weeks will carry commitment interest on the nominal value of FCfa 1 million. Individuals or companies desirous of acquiring these stocks must get in touch with 16 banks among which are Afriland First Bank, Banque Internationale du Cameroun pour l’épargne et le credit (BICEC), Banque internationale pour le Commerce et l’industrie du Gabon (Bicg), Bgfibank Gabon, Crédit du Congo, Ecobank Cameroun, Société commerciale de Banque Cameroun (Scb), etc. This new issuance comes after the successful one which took place on 10 August earlier this month. Investors offered to the Cameroonian Treasury FCfa 20.5 billion from the FCfa 7 billion requested.

Since taking over the mantle of office in 2012, Arrey Takor, embarked on a campaign to block all the leakages through which the association’s funds were sinking into. Speaking to The Post in Buea recently, Arrey Takor, said the gang members, who have been preying on the association’s income are scheming to topple her. The FCFA 10 million, she said, was diverted to a different account by the Secretary General of the association.

Thus, more than 85% of the entire portfolio. A financing authority in the Islamic Cooperation Organisation (ICO), of which Cameroon has been a member since 1975, IDB honoured the country by funding the very first project worldwide at its inception, being the Song Loulou dam (388 megawatts) in 1977. To have a better foothold in Cameroon, this Islamic bank recently appointment a local representative in Abakar Abdoulrassoul. Apart from IDB, the main partners in this type of cooperation include the Arab Bank for Economic Development in Africa (BADEA), the Saudi Development Fund (FSD), the Kuwaiti Fund for Arab Economic Development (FKDEA) and the OPEP Fund for International Development (OFID).

Jean Paul Simo Njonou, for his part, has been appointed President of the Board. The industrial port complex of Kribi covers an area of 26,300 ha and borders the Cameroonian coastline over 20 km. These are the logistics and industrial activity area, the residential area, port facilities and the multimodal corridor. These latter two components will facilitate Cameroon’s integration in the sub-regional area through inter-states sea, road and railway transport streams.

Contrary to the previous year when Cameroonian pilgrims would have spent FCfa 2.154 million, the total price of the 2016 Hajj is FCfa 2.06 million. It covers the plane ticket (FCfa 930,000), accommodation at the Mecca and Medina (FCfa 596,354), basic Saudi services (FCfa 172,840), additional Moassassa services (FCfa 134,382), catering services at Mecca and Medina (FCfa 138,424), medical and administrative assistance (FCfa 17,500), supervisor's commissions (FCfa 55,000) and bank commission (FCfa 15,500). If an estimate of the number of candidates to the 2016 pilgrimage to Mecca has not yet been given, we can recall that in 2015, 4,500 Cameroonians took part in this religious event. About thirty of them died in a stampede which had left 2,236 dead.
