Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s approval rating stood at 70 per cent in May this year, a recent report by Ipsos IndiaBus said on Tuesday. This shows a slight dip from the PM’s earlier rating of 75% in February, according to the findings by the Ipsos survey. From Tuesday onwards, the cost of a short-stay Schengen visa has increased by 12 per cent. While the Schengen visa fee for adults has increased to 90 euros from 80 euros, children between the age of 6 and 12 will now pay 45 euros instead of 40 euros. Schengen visa allows the holder to travel freely in the Schengen Area comprising 29 European countries, for short stays of a maximum of 90 days in any 180-day period. MYSURU: Pandit Rajeev Taranath, the renowned sarod maestro, passed away due to age-related illness at the age of 92 in Mysuru on Tuesday. A distinguished disciple of the great sarod maestro Ustad Ali Akbar Khan, Taranath also received guidance from Pandit Ravi Shankar and Srimati Annapurna Devi. KOTTAYAM : An attempt to resolve internal tensions within the LDF in Pala municipality has resulted in the expulsion of Binu Pulikkakandam, the CPM municipal councillor in Pala, from the party. The decision was announced by P M Joseph, the secretary of the CPM area committee in Pala, on Tuesday. The expulsion was attributed to a breach of party discipline and the councillor’s anti-left stance. Binu, known for his outspoken criticism of the Kerala Congress (M) and its chairman Jose K Mani, has been embroiled in a public feud with Jose since he was denied the opportunity to become the chairman of Pala municipality in January 2023. Despite being the sole councillor to win under the party symbol, Binu alleges that Jose’s interference led to his exclusion.
