"This is an early start, maybe about 10 days earlier than last year," said Joffrey Koeman, director of sales and marketing at Cypress Mountain. Koeman says he anticipates a great skiing season in 2022, due to it being the third La Niña winter season in a row. La Niña means the waters in the eastern Pacific Ocean's surface are running colder. "Typically, La Niña means colder-than-normal weather conditions here across B.C.," said CBC meteorologist Johanna Wagstaffe. "It is a a triple La Niña this year, which gives me a lot of confidence and I'm pretty sure we'll be able to open earlier than [Dec.

At 84, I’m tackling my fears and facing agingThis First Person column was written by Sheilah Bissett, who lives in Calgary. There I was – already confined to a wheelchair in my mind – and I had hardly tried to get out of bed! As I sipped my coffee that morning, I thought about how the signs of aging had crept up on me. Slow down!”I tried to ignore him and pretend everything was fine, but the list of “can’t take anymore” grew. It took Sheilah Bissett three days to paint these planks, but she did it herself.

It’s time to introduce a dreaded word to the team game of hockey: selfish. It’s a necessary ingredient on a good team, and it’s a missing element in several stops around the NHL. For these teams and likely a few more, it’s time to determine between collective and singular. But there has to be excellent play by individuals in order to win games. There’s a balance between collective and singular and both are necessary in a team game.

“It’s the three-headed monster you’ve heard about,” added the source, speaking confidentially Friday to discuss internal deliberations. Premier Doug Ford said earlier this week that people should mask up if they feel vulnerable and get their flu and COVID-19 booster shots as soon as they are able. Moore warned of the looming flu situation on Nov. 2, saying the province had a critical two-week window for as many people as possible to get their free flu shots and blunt a surge of infections that could swamp the hospital system. Once the test positivity rate for flu hits five per cent, it is expected to spread aggressively across the province. Rates of masking in indoor public places remain low despite encouragement from health officials for people to wear masks when they feel at risk, particularly in crowded situations.

If Twitter dies, maybe some of the functionality it offers moves somewhere else, back to Facebook or Instagram, to TikTok, and even onto Mastodon, the new Twitter rival.

Top Ontario doctor to ask public to mask up as respiratory illnesses rage: sourcesTORONTO — Ontario's top doctor will recommend the public begin masking on Monday in an effort to help overwhelmed children's hospitals, two government sources said Saturday. Children's hospitals across the province are already overwhelmed with young patients flooding emergency departments, pediatric wards and intensive care units. The children who are coming in are very sick, he said, noting more than half of the 38 kids in the hospital's ICU are currently on a ventilator. Less than two weeks ago they had 14 patients with the same illnesses, the hospital said. The provincewide problems at pediatric hospitals prompted the Ontario Hospital Association to also ask Ontarians to wear masks indoors.
