A neighbour in Skeete's Whitney Pier community, Iris Crawford, said his impact will continue to be felt for many years to come. "A great activist for our Black community — he did more for people than people really knew," Crawford said. Veterans Affairs in Ottawa says there are only 25,500 veterans still alive in Canadawho served in World War II or the Korean War. Guilbeault optimistic about targets even as Canada’s emissions rebound post-pandemicOTTAWA — Canada's carbon dioxide emissions crept back up in 2021 after falling sharply during the first year of COVID-19, and experts believe they will go up even further this year as the return to normal has accelerated. The European Emissions Database for Global Atmospheric Research shows Canada's carbon dioxide emissions grew three per cent in 2021 after falling nearly 10 per cent in 2020. The European data show Canada's carbon emissions rose the slowest of any G7 country in 2021, but also shows Canada has done the worst job of any G7 country in lowering carbon dioxide emissions since 2005. In the 16 years since then, Canada's carbon dioxide emissions have fallen three per cent. The country's struggle to cut emissions more than it has came in large part because oil production has grown exponentially, with emissions growth in that sector and from transportation offsetting improvements in electricity and manufacturing.

“We came a long way here in this little stretch,” Keefe was saying Tuesday. Tuesday’s game against the Golden Knights saw the Leafs cough up a season-high 17 giveaways. Over that same span, the Maple Leafs have given the puck away more than any team not named the Montreal Canadiens. Both the Lightning and Leafs are stacked with talent. It’s knowing the transitions.”It’s knowing, Keefe said, when to play offence over when to play defence — a balance that’s yet to be fully grasped by the offence-loving Leafs.

Health officials have hinted a return to mask mandates may be necessary if things get bad enough. Also in April, the Joe Biden administration’s mask mandate for public transportation and commercial flights was struck down by a Florida judge. Yet here in Ontario, two large municipal public health boards are urging action on masking. Western University has mask mandates for its learning spaces this fall. Right now, he says, there is a “massive chasm” between what public health recommends and how the public responds.

And while some might be basking in Jack Campbell’s early struggles with the Oilers, I’m not one of them. The hardest part was watching the game and still having a small emotional stake in what was happening on the ice. Players didn’t tell the coaches or share their issues with teammates, or voice on-ice disappointments with the public. For the record, Mess smiled, the team had a good laugh and I never saw the inside of the Binghamton dressing room. But it might be time for Campbell to get selfish and stop pucks for himself above anyone else.

Renters say they must compete — pay fees, give away personal information and rush decisions — or go without a home. Renters say they often contact landlords and hear nothing back, and the lineups make viewings feel more like an open house. "We didn't hesitate at all because we knew it would go really, really quickly," she said. But since the rental market in Calgary has many small players, it's tough to say why individual landlords make such requests. There just isn't the supply that we need to make it a fair, balanced and reasonably priced rental market," said Kureshi.

LAS VEGAS The Blue Jays have been in the market for pitching just about every year since general manager Ross Atkins joined the organization in 2015. Almost every team needs more arms, and the Jays are no different. The Jays have done their homework on a lot of the guys who are currently available. Last off-season, the Jays made runs at Justin Verlander and Andrew Heaney. It protects their investment in their arms for the future.”The Jays haven’t enjoyed such luxuries in a long time.
