“If you want to be an elite team, you need to be elite in managing games,” Keefe said. “Three games in four nights against elite teams, and five out of six points feels good,” Keefe said. But he faced repeated breakaways and odd-man rushes, and through the first 30 minutes was the reason Vegas didn’t run away with the game. Rasmus Sandin fanned on a shot that at the Knights’ blue line, creating a breakaway for William Carrier. Liljegren got the Leafs even, but then made a mistake similar to Sandin’s, fanning on a pass in his own zone.

A non-governmental organization, Educational Network Against COVID-19 (ENACOVID), on Wednesday, launched the National Post COVID-19 Educational Response Plan (CERP), in Abuja. The Executive Director of the ENACOVID, Dr Ben Onwudinjo said the NGO targets all groups of persons whose fortunes and possibilities of earning decent education may have still been affected by the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic. Addressing the press during the launch, Dr Onwudinjo said the NGO is a non-profit, non-religious, non-political and gender-sensitive organisation set up to mitigate the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic in the education sector. POLLAccording to the Executive Director of ENACOVID, the NGO also prepared beneficiaries to sit for the Nov/Dec. 2022 West African Examinations Council and NABTEB exams where it paid their tuition and equally paid their examination fees.

Deputy prime minister says there will be disagreements, but she can work with SmithCALGARY — Canada's deputy prime minister says she is looking forward to working with Alberta Premier Danielle Smith, even though the provincial politician has taken a combative tone toward the federal government. Smith sent a letter Wednesday to Prime Minister Justin Trudeau as one of her first acts as a member of the legislative assembly following a byelection win Tuesday night in Brooks-Medicine Hat. Chrystia Freeland, who was in Calgary on Wednesday meeting with business and union leaders, offered congratulations to Smith on her victory. "Affordability is the primary concern of Albertans and all Canadians," Smith wrote in the letter. Freeland, also the finance minister, said the price on pollution is revenue-neutral.

DENVER (AP) — A vote to decide whether Colorado will become the second state, after Oregon, to create a legalized system for the use of psychedelic mushrooms was too early to call Tuesday. Colorado’s ballot initiative would allow those 21 and older to grow, possess and share the psychedelic substances but not sell them for personal use. In 2020, Oregon became the first state in the nation to legalize the therapeutic, supervised use of psilocybin after 56% of voters approved Ballot Measure 109. But unlike the Colorado measure, Oregon allows counties to opt out of the program if their constituents vote to do so. Washington, D.C., and Denver have partially decriminalized psychedelic mushrooms by requiring law enforcement officers to treat them as their lowest priority.

TORONTO - Concertgoers are rushing back to shows and more musicians are on the road than venues can schedule. But industry players say the world’s biggest touring names are cannibalizing ticket sales for everyone else, particularly artists without the promotional heft of a major label and sponsorship deals. “I was flipping out about ticket sales because James Taylor was here one night, and three nights later it was ZZ Top,” she says. Without album sales to fall back on, some say the financial stakes of mounting a tour are high. That’s left managers tossing out the pre-pandemic playbook while some musicians wonder whether touring is even worth the mental and physical toll.

Since the Parkside camera was put in place this past April, it’s been number one each month. So, in September, fines for tickets issued by the Parkside box totalled somewhere in the neighbourhood of $244,582. Extending the math, in total the Parkside camera was responsible for an estimated $1.7 million in fines through to the end of September. And on Parkside Drive — and other past and current photo radar hot spots — that’s not happening. Big number: $279,121, the estimated value of speeding tickets issued each month by Toronto’s automated speed enforcement camera located on Parkside Drive, based on an average ticket amount of $107.32SHARE:

WINNIPEG, Manitoba — Another game, another game with the same lineup for the Stars. The rest will remain the same, partly because the Stars have raced to an 8-3-1 start and partly because, frankly, the Stars don’t have many options. If they wanted to make a change, the only one would be inserting Joel Hanley on the back end. “It means that we’re healthy and we haven’t had a need to change the lineup,” DeBoer said. On Tuesday, they’ll go against the architect of that line: Winnipeg coach Rick Bowness.

Supporting a green translation, ensuring a competitive Nordic region, and addressing climate challenges in Arctic communities will be among Iceland’s top priorities when the island nation takes over presidency of the Nordic Council of Ministers next year. Iceland presented their program, “The Nordic Region—A Force for Peace” in Helsinki at the 74th Ordinary Session of the Nordic Council that wrapped up Nov. 3. “There is widespread support for Nordic cooperation and for generations of people in the Nordic Region, this is how it has always been,” Jakobsdottir and Gudbrandsson said. “Nordic co-operation requires time and effort and should not be taken as a given,” Jakobsdottir and Gudbrandsson said. “The most visible aspect of climate change effects is in the Arctic region and in the Northern Hemisphere, and thus in the Nordic Region,” the program says.

As internet communications scholars, we propose that Canada’s public broadcaster, the CBC, should build a Mastodon server on the global network. This network allows one Mastodon server to connect to another — as well as to many other social media software systems. The future of public service mediaIn the past, the CBC has been a little sensitive about its social media strategy. Our proposal applies to Radio-Canada as much as the CBC — really, to any public service media. Indeed, we hope that taking alternative social media seriously would reignite a collective and global imagination of the future of public service media.

Guest: Karim Bardeesy, Toronto Metropolitan UniversityAs many Canadians moved from the office to work remotely due to the COVID-19 pandemic, there was an increase in electronic surveillance by employers and an increased demand for related technologies. The intrusive surveillance has been allowed as workers have limited privacy protections, but things might be changing in Ontario. The provincial government passed legislation in April requiring some employers to have an electronic monitoring policy and to disclose it to their employees.

Ontario's delay-ridden Landlord and Tenant Board (LTB) is prioritizing applications from landlords asking for above guideline rent increases until the end of the year, according to a memo obtained by CBC Toronto. Without approval from the LTB, landlords in the province are only allowed to increase rent for most existing tenants by Ontario's annual rent increase for inflation. © Kimberly Ivany/CBC The LTB says its plan to focus on above guideline rent applications and previously adjourned matters 'will help ensure that the oldest applications get scheduled and heard as a priority.' The Federation of Metro Tenants' Associations previously told CBC Toronto that there has been an "explosion" of AGIs in the last decade. Zibute Janeliunas was "devastated" when she found out her hearing for unpaid rent could be delayed further because of the LTB focusing on AGIs.
