Dozens of dead seals have been spotted washed ashore in Conception Bay South and the surrounding area since last weekend. A pair of dead seals had washed up on the rocky shoreline. When she came back to the same beach Tuesday morning, she said there were around 20 more dead seals washed ashore, some of which were badly mangled and missing various body parts, including their heads. Establishing a national space situational awareness centre would enable Finland to more effectively monitor and respond to near-space issues as they occur, the report said. “The Finnish centre for space situational awareness would provide and disseminate this information to the Defence Forces, to other authorities and to companies critical to security of supply as well as to universities and research institutes. Knock-on effects of a space centre include promoting Finnish research, and being eligible to apply for space related research funding from the EU and the European Space Agency. The report recommends the centre be established by 2026.

The new hiking and biking trail network on Newfoundland's Northern Peninsula would stretch from Parson's Pond to L'Anse aux Meadows and on to Roddickton. The Great Coastal Trail would be almost three times as long as the East Coast Trail. Another 350 kilometres of trails linking L'Anse aux Meadows to Roddickton, a town to the southeast, would be constructed during the project's second phase. Provincial Tourism Minister Steve Crocker was not available for an interview Tuesday, but a spokesperson said the draft plan is subject to change.
