Step back; who’s putting pressure on you to pony up this giant gift? If you dissect the facts (has the person actually asked you for this giant gift?) ), you might just find that the only person responsible for the pressure to buy a giant gift is you. A CBC.ca report indicates an amendment has been added to Bill C-21, co-opting the handgun ban to prohibit hunting rifles as well. Mendicino said, “We have a plan to eradicate gun violence once and for all. This will disincentivize Americans from hunting in Canada, creating a devastating economic impact on the industry and communities that has [sic] contributed approximately $1.13 billion Canadian dollars to the country’s GDP this year alone. Trump faces peril in docs probe after decades of scrutinyWASHINGTON (AP) — As a businessman and president, Donald Trump faced a litany of lawsuits and criminal investigations yet emerged from the legal scrutiny time and again with his public and political standing largely intact. But he's perhaps never confronted a probe as perilous as the Mar-a-Lago investigation, an inquiry focused on the potential mishandling of top-secret documents. By that point, Justice Department officials say they'd developed probable cause to believe crimes had been committed related to the retention of national defense information as well as obstruction. Smith is also overseeing key aspects of a separate Justice Department investigation related to efforts by Trump and his allies to undo the results of the 2020 presidential election. Yet, legal experts expect the Justice Department to weigh more than just the strength of evidence in deciding whether to proceed with a case.

Instead, Amazon said in an email there would be no refund until the "correct" item was shipped back. On top of that, the Amazon rep said the returned, fake item had been thrown out, to protect other employees. The returns customers make every day are a major expense for Amazon, Gordon says. But every returned item is carefully inspected "to accurately determine its condition," according to Boussoufa, the spokesperson. "Now they are saying they will charge me for another [order], because in their view, they've sent two," said Tabbert.

More food with fewer emissions a clear challenge for CanadaFarmers will need lots of support to reduce GHG emissions. Ottawa—Producing more food with fewer greenhouse gas emissions is the clear challenge facing Canada’s agrifood system, says a thought-provoking report on achieving that goal. Canada is a top supplier of key crops like wheat and canola and a global leader in the export of beef. Every acre of food we grow, and every animal we raise, add to an emissions footprint that is already too big—and that we’ve committed to shrinking. To make it happen, Canada will need to harness cross-sectoral partnerships, research and innovation, policy development and private investment.

Warnock, Walker: Starkly different choices for Black votersATLANTA (AP) — Raphael Warnock is the first Black U.S. senator from Georgia, having broken the color barrier for one of the original 13 states with a special election victory in January 2021, almost 245 years after the nation’s founding. Yet Warnock and Walker have cut different paths and offer clearly opposing visions for the country, including on race and racism. AP VoteCast, a survey of more than 3,200 voters in the state, showed that Warnock won 90% of Black voters. VoteCast data in the 2021 runoff suggested that Black voters helped fuel Warnock’s victory over then-Sen. Kelly Loeffler, comprising almost a third of that electorate, slightly more than the Black share of the 2020 general electorate. Doyal Siddell, a 66-year-old Black retiree from Douglasville, said Walker’s pitch is disconnected from many Black voters.

Working people who live off credit cards have been reaching out to the food bank for the first time recently, says director Jody Williams. Volunteers pack dozens of boxes and bags every morning when the food bank is open.

TORONTO - It’s that much harder for celebrities to escape the glare of the spotlight when social media has given them a direct line to the public’s adoration — and acrimony. The online overexposure has driven some A-listers to go on social media hiatus or log off permanently in the name of preserving their mental health. Pop sensation Selena Gomez, “Star Wars” star Daisy Ridley and Olympic gymnast Gabby Douglas are among the notable names who have spoken about the benefits of social media breaks. The Canadian Press asked a few Hollywood stars about how they stay connected on social media while looking out for their mental health. “I think that social media is actually incredibly toxic for our brains,” Hsu said at the Toronto International Film Festival last fall.
