HCM CITY — Rental rates for industrial land in Việt Nam are forecast to slightly increase in the coming time, experts said. For the industrial land market, industrial land rental rates in tier 1 markets of the northern region experienced a slight increase of 1.2 per cent quarter-on-quarter and 7.8 per cent year-on-year, averaging US$133 per sq.m. Meanwhile, industrial land rental rates in tier 1 markets of the southern region remained stable at $189 per sq.m, showing year-on-year growth of 2.4 per cent. However, in the southern market, due to relatively limited industrial land availability, the occupancy rate remained stable at 92 per cent with an absorption area of just over 20 hectares. The average rental price for ready-built warehouses and factories in tier 1 markets reached $4.7 and $4.9 per sq.m per month, respectively.

HÀ NỘI — April 2024 marks the second consecutive month the automobile industry reported significant growth since the beginning of the year, according to a report by the General Statistics Office of Vietnam (GSO). Last month, 25,700 vehicles were produced and assembled in Việt Nam, an increase of 4 per cent compared to the previous month (24,800 vehicles), marking a comeback from a sharp decline in sales before Tết. The Vietnam Automobile Manufacturers Association (VAMA) said its members had been reporting improved sales in March and April. The previous three implementations have produced positive outcomes for the industry with owners enjoying a 5-6 per cent reduction in total costs. The industry set a sales record in 2022 with half a million vehicles sold throughout the year.

These new businesses registered a total of 353,800 workers, a growth of 6.8 per cent over the same period last year. The average registered capital of a new enterprise in the first four months of 2024 rose by 5.7 per cent year on year to VNĐ9.9 billion. In April, Việt Nam had more than 15,300 newly established enterprises with a registered capital of VNĐ175.8 trillion, up by 8.4 per cent in number of businesses and 55 per cent in registered capital month on month. The average registered capital of a new enterprise in April stood at VNĐ11.5 billion, up 42.9 per cent over the previous month. Of which, 7,618 businesses registered in April to temporarily suspend business, an increase of 84.1 per cent compared to the previous month.

Vietnam asks Cambodia to share detailed information about the project, including the project feasibility report, conduct joint research on its impacts, and apply the International Mekong River Commission (MRC)'s guidelines for transboundary impact assessment to achieve common understanding of the project's transboundary impacts and appropriate mitigation measures. The Funan - Techo canal will transfer water from the Bassac River, a tributary of the Mekong River, to Kep port located outside the basin. As information about the operation of the three planned sluices in the project is lacking, Vietnam hopes that Cambodia will early share detailed information about the purpose, design and operation of the project. Vietnam also wishes that Cambodia will participate in joint research on the project's impacts and reach agreement on suitable impact monitoring and mitigation measures.
