Vietnamese Embassy in Cambodia holds Lunar New Year gathering

Ambassador Nguyen Huy Tang speaks at the event (Photo: VNA)The Vietnamese Embassy in Cambodia organised a Lunar New Year gathering on January 16 with the participation of Vietnamese diplomats, businesses, expatriates and students in the country.The event featured musical performances and Vietnamese traditional dishes.In his remarks, Ambassador Nguyen Huy Tang lauded the business community for its hard work and the expatriates for their support for one another given the impacts of COVID-19 last year.On the occasion, the diplomat presented gifts to honour five Cambodian families with Vietnamese origin for their outstanding contributions to the activities of the Vietnamese community in Cambodia and to Vietnam’s revolutionary cause.The embassy’s community support fund in collaboration with a number of Vietnamese firms investing in Cambodia, Vietnamese localities and philanthropists, meanwhile, committed to implementing a programme that assists more than 3,500 needy Vietnamese-origin Cambodian households across 16 Cambodian provinces and cities as the Lunar New Year is just around the corner.Chairman of the Khmer-Vietnam association Sim Chy and representatives of participating enterprises stressed their commitment to join hands with the embassy and other diplomatic agencies in implementing policies issued by the Party and State.Also celebrating the upcoming Lunar New Year, the Vietnamese Embassy together with the associations of Vietnamese expatriates and students in Singapore on January 15 and 16 organised a competition make Banh Chung and Banh Tet, the must-have traditional food for the occasion./.

(Photo: VNA)A book featuring the Vietnam -Thailand enhanced strategic partnership was released at a ceremony in Bangkok on January 14.The book was jointly complied by the Commercial Affairs Office at the Vietnamese Embassy in Thailand, and the Thailand-Vietnam Business Council.In his remarks at the ceremony, Sanan Angubolkul, Chairman of the Thai Chamber of Commerce, said Thailand has now become Vietnam’s biggest partner in the Association of Southeast Asian Nations ( ASEAN ).“I am confident that we will not only continue to be productive in our partnership, but we will take our relationship to new heights of progress, development and the achievement of the goals we have set before us,” said Sanan, who is also Chairman of the Thailand – Vietnam Business Council and Chairman of the Thailand – Vietnam Friendship Association.For his part, Vietnamese Ambassador to Thailand Phan Chi Thanh said 2021 was an important milestone celebrating the 45th founding anniversary of diplomatic relationship between the two countries.In the long and comprehensive establishment, the two countries have achieved many successes in three key pillars: political-security, economic and socio-culture on the firm basis of the enhanced strategic partnership, he said.In terms of economic cooperation, Vietnam-Thailand is among a few success stories in the region and beyond, celebrating a blooming cooperation in the past decades, according to the diplomat.Thailand is Vietnam’s largest trading partner in ASEAN and the ninth largest FDI investor, while Vietnam is Thailand’s fifth largest trading partner in the world.The two countries are also members of many international trade agreements such as the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership (RCEP), the ASEAN Trade in Goods Agreement (ATIGA) and the ASEAN Free Trade Area (AFTA).These strong foundations helped pave the way to further strengthen economic cooperation, allowing businesses to explore various trade and investment opportunities.“I believe that with strong determination and joint efforts, Vietnam and Thailand will complete the target of 25 billion USD in two-way trade in 2025,” the ambassador said.Vietnamese Trade Counsellor in Thailand Tran Thi Thanh My told the Vietnam News Agency (VNA)’s correspondents that the book would serve as a useful reference for businesses and readers who are looking for cooperation opportunities in the two countries./.

Vietnam, Belarus conduct political consultation at deputy foreign ministerial level

– Vietnamese Deputy Foreign Minister To Anh Dung and his Belarusian counterpart Mikalai Barysevich co-chaired a political consultation between the two Foreign Ministries in Hanoi on January 12, during which both sides agreed on many measures to bolster bilateral cooperation in all fields.The two Deputy FMs concurred to resume the exchange of delegations at all levels in the new normal situation and expand collaboration in defence, security, economy-trade, investment, education and culture-tourism as well as among localities of both countries.Dung affirmed that Vietnam hopes to further promote the traditional friendship and all-round cooperation with Belarus He held that the two countries’ presenting of medical supplies to each other to fight COVID-19 last December is evidence of the close friendship between the two nations. Vietnam, Belarus hold great cooperation potential: FM

Vietnam and Belarus have a reliable political relationship, and a lot of potential for cooperation in various fields, especially economics, trade and investment, said Foreign Minister Bui Thanh Son during his reception for visiting Belarusian Deputy FM Mikalai Barysevich in Hanoi on January 12.Son welcomed the Belarusian official’s visit to Vietnam to co-chair a political consultation at the deputy ministerial level between the two ministries, affirming that Vietnam always attaches great importance to and wishes to develop the traditional friendship and multi-faceted cooperation with Belarus. He appreciated Belarus’s granting medical equipment and supplies to support Vietnam’s fight against COVID-19 last December.Barysevich expressed his pleasure to visit Vietnam on the occasion of the 30th anniversary of the two countries' diplomatic relations (January 24, 1992 - 2022).
