The continued use of fossil fuels puts achieving the UN sustainable development goals (SDGs) related to planetary, environmental, and human health at risk. Rather than holding fossil fuel companies accountable for their climate commitments, in some cases, government action has increased the use of fossil fuels. Our commitments In 2020, The BMJ committed to ban advertising and research funded by companies that produce fossil fuels. We are not banning advertising from all banks, but we will allow it only from banks that do not fund fossil fuel companies. Tropicana Casino Demolished To Make Way For A's Stadium Las Vegas embraces transformation with latest implosion to pave the way for new sports complexLas Vegas bid farewell to one of its iconic landmarks, the Tropicana Casino, on October 9, 2024, as its towering structures crumbled to the ground during a carefully orchestrated implosion, making way for the Oakland Athletics’ new home—a $1.5 billion baseball stadium set to open for the 2028 season. This 67-year-old casino had witnessed decades of gambling delights and the rise of Las Vegas as the entertainment capital of the world. The event included dazzling fireworks and illuminated drone displays, creating vibrant visuals against the Las Vegas night sky. The planned stadium for the A's is anticipated to accommodate approximately 33,000 baseball enthusiasts, incorporating modern features, all set to reshape the Las Vegas Strip. Such developments raise the stakes for Las Vegas to maintain its relevance and appeal compared to other major urban destinations.

The JAAC’s decision to boycott the government-organized ‘Kashmir Solidarity Day’ on February 5 earlier this year was a watershed moment. The response of the Pakistani establishment to these protests has been predictably heavy-handed. [4] As JAAC prepares to mark its foundation day, the event is likely to be more than just a celebration. The Pakistani establishment finds itself in a precarious position. However, given the region’s strategic importance and the entrenched interests of the Pakistani establishment, such a shift seems improbable in the near future.

For much of the decade, Arsenal and Manchester United were battling it out at the top of the Premier League, and Ferguson tried his best to lure the Gunners' top defender to Old Trafford. "Manchester United twice tried to sign me but I turned them down both times because I was Arsenal through and through," he wrote. It was at an England get-together and Bryan Robson spoke to me about it, perhaps having been asked by Sir Alex Ferguson to have a quiet word. "I guess Sir Alex might also have wanted me because, as well as feeling he might be strengthening United, he might be weakening Arsenal." It follows a string of other pubs to have closed in the areaLAST ORDERS ‘Had a few good times there’ say punters as major pub chain with 2,700 locations to close city centre branch in daysA MAJOR pub chain is set to shut one of its city centre branches in just days as punters recall the "good times" they had there. A spokesperson for the pub chain told Nottinghamshire Live: "We have made the difficult decision to close Via Fossa on the 19th of October. The Company Inn at Castle Wharf, also on Canal Street, shut its doors permanently in November 2021 after it stood closed for some time. The problem is that when a big shop closes, footfall falls across the local high street, which puts more shops at risk of closing. Nottingham has also seen many other closures of major high street shops over the past year.

We are deep into the season of whisks and mellow fruit-filled tarts, but you won’t find Prue Leith watching a lot of The Great British Bake Off. “I mostly don’t watch. I’m too vain,” says Leith, who is as frank about herself as she is when she condemns a contestant’s Battenberg cake. “I just think, ‘Oh my God, why do they always have me eating?’ Which is a very ugly thing to be doing. But you don’t see Paul putting much food in his mouth.”Is that right?

Commissioners Luke Taylor and George Lippman (both Jewish) wrote the Ceasefire Resolution and introduced the Resolution to the public before public comment began. No ceasefire resolution has made it to the draft Berkeley City Council agenda. Anything submitted by boards and commissions for consideration by the City Council is subject to review by the City Manager. Hahn, who has explicitly stated that she opposes a ceasefire resolution, is running for mayor against Kate Harrison and Adena Ishii, both of whom have expressed their support for a ceasefire resolution. But we have a majority of mayor and councilmembers who are firmly opposed to any ceasefire resolution.
