Both men are dying for a fag, and in the lift up to the boardroom I ask Farage why he still smokes. They say energy bills are punitive and Farage talks about the stupidity of shutting Grangemouth oil refinery then importing fossil fuels. But for a growing number of women recruited to work as professional mermaids in China and South Korea, the reality is far from enchanting. She was promised a structured schedule - five shows a day, one day off per week, and a salary of 1.8 million Korean won (roughly £1,100). In the Chinese province of Yunnan, a huge sturgeon attacked a Russian mermaid mid-performance on January 28, 2025. The 'mermaid', known only as 22-year-old Russian performer Masha, was seen in footage gliding through water in an aquarium tank while wearing a bikini top and monotail. The athletes were competing in the 2024 China Mermaid Open & International Mermaid Competition and attracted divers from countries including China, South Korea, and Kazakhstan.

Scientists warn that a popular Hawaiian island is sinking 40 times faster than expected and terrible flooding could start wiping out businesses and homes within decades. Certain areas of Oahu's South Shore are sinking at a rate of roughly 25mm a year, which is 40 times faster than the gradual sinking rate of the land. By the year 2100, the water levels could be up to eight feet higher, according to the study. By the beginning of the next century, Dahl predicts that 'higher annual coastal flood levels due to climate-driven sea level rise' will 'expose residents, businesses, and infrastructure in parts of Mapunapuna to potential losses.' Some areas of the island are already start to see significant flooding during big storms, including just this past January.

From Blake Lively's nose and Renee Zellweger's cheeks to Zac Efron's face, many celebrities have left fans scratching their heads over their evolving features. Last year, plastic surgeon Dr. Mark Salamos gave DailyMail.com his theory about the way Zac looked in 2022, nearly a decade on from the accident. She found herself dogged by rumors that she had undergone plastic surgery, and she staunchly tamped down the speculation in 2016. 'I don't even know if that's plastic surgery, or if she was abducted by aliens,' he joked when asked about Lindsay. A little over a year ago, however, she declared that she was swearing off plastic surgery because of a botched facelift she underwent in 2021.
