Committed to preserving rare handcrafts, Patek Philippe dedicates an annual collection that showcases the virtuosity of its artisans at the manufacture in the outskirts of Geneva. This is exemplified by the Gondolo Serata Zebra, released last October as a gem-set dress watch powered by a quartz calibre. Thanks to an ingenious technique, Patek Philippe literally dressed the sapphire crystal dial of the Gondolo Serata Zebra in the characteristic stripes. The Gondolo Serata and its predecessor, respectively launched in 2006 and 1993, are modern takes on the Art Deco style. The name references Gondolo & Labouriau, a Brazilian retailer who partnered with Patek Philippe from 1872 to the 1930s.

The answers reveal a complex mix of climate, culture and modern lifeSpeed is relative: Do Thais walk slowly, or do foreigners walk too fast? This perspective suggests that slow walking has less to do with mindfulness and more to do with modern distraction, a phenomenon hardly unique to Thailand. The paradox of speedInterestingly, many noted a striking contradiction: Thais walk slowly but drive like they have nine lives. As one commenter put it: "Drive fast, walk slow - Thailand™"One Thai commenter offered an explanation: "If we walk, it means we're in no rush. Several long-term residents suggested that rather than fighting Thai walking culture, foreigners might benefit from embracing it.

Beer consumption in Australia has declined in the past five decades, but for many the drink remains an important part of the culture. Official figures show drinkers in Australia downed an estimated 82 litres of beer per person in the 2019-20 financial year. Hoteliers said they were working hard to ensure every pour of beer passed the pub test. "We are working with our membership to ensure we fix any shortcomings to ensure all patrons receive exactly what they have paid for."

Additional pipe bombs were believed to have been smuggled by fishing boats and brought ashore in Muang district of Narathiwat. The attacks could mirror the coordinated bombings and arson incidents at 11 PTT petrol stations in three border provinces on Jan 11, which coincided with tambon (subdistrict) elections. The onset of Ramadan, which will begin on the evening of Feb 17, typically brings an uptick in attacks as well, according to the senator. Caretaker Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul ordered the Isoc Region 4 Forward Command to overhaul its intelligence operations following the PTT petrol station bombings on Jan 11. Additional patrols and screening have been stepped up around fuel stations, transport hubs and government facilities ahead of Sunday’s vote.

Bitcoin slipping below $60,000 could push it into the mid-$50,000sA novelty Bitcoin token arranged in Hong Kong, China, on Dec 5, 2024. (File photo: Bloomberg)SINGAPORE — Bitcoin sank in early Asia trading on Friday, extending a selloff that had already erased all the gains booked by the token since United States President Donald Trump’s 2024 election victory. It later pared those losses and was up by more than 2% to over $64,400 by 9.12am in Singapore. The selling has picked up steam this week in line with the unwinding of leveraged bets and broader market turbulence. Traders are now focused on whether Bitcoin can hold $60,000, Lucas said.
