Richard Gibson, 54, had spent over a year in and out of hospital after being put on a waiting list in August 2016. And, he pulled himself out of his hospital bed to attend his daughter Jenny’s wedding on New Year’s Eve. She explained: “It began in August 2016 when my dad was referred to King’s Hospital and put on the list for a liver transplant after developing a liver condition. That day came on January 31 when he left his hospital bed at the Royal Victoria Hospital to attend the wedding at Clandeboye Lodge Hotel in Bangor. “Dad ran in and approached me at the top table and said: ‘It’s the hospital, they’ve rang’.”His close family gathered in the reception area while Richard rang the hospital.
