iOS 10 update takes shine off of Apple

From bricked phones to redesigned emojis, some Apple device owners have taken to social media to vent their frustrations after upgrading — or trying to upgrade — their iPhones, iPads and iPods to iOS 10. The latest version of Apple’s mobile device operating system, released Tuesday, is supposed to offer more intuitive, useful features than ever before but hundreds of Twitter users didn’t even get far enough to try them out — their phones were bricked, or rendered unusable, in the process of trying to install iOS 10. In a brief emailed statement, Apple acknowledged it “experienced a brief issue with the software update process” during the first hour of iOS 10’s availability that affected a “small number” of users. “The problem was quickly resolved and we apologize to those customers,” the statement said. “Anyone who was affected should connect to iTunes to complete the update or contact AppleCare for help.”The tech giant has also released a step-by-step guide on what to do if users can’t update or restore their mobile devices.
